Such a lovely setting for a restaurant but terrible food! Tough and grisly bits of steak, and watery mushroom pasta. Expensive for what it was as well. Nothing remotely green or healthy on the menu to go with it either. We were hoping to find a lovely restaurant for our last night in Amelia but this was not it! Do... More

What a delightful experience we had eating at Osteria Dei Cansacchi today!!! John had the shrimp and peppers and I had the beef tortufo and grilled zucchini...everything was delicious!!! What was especially delightful was Pina bringing out prosecco and bruschetta to greet us and the treating us to Grappa and Limoncella after our wonderful Sunday meal!! Alberto and Pina made... More

What a hidden gem this restaurant is! We visited the wonderful Amelia on a Sunday with our two little boys of 9 and 6. After walking round the beautiful town for the morning we tried to find somewhere for lunch. Unfortunately in the old town there was nothing open but we remembered seeing a doorway with 'Osteria' at the start... More

We had difficulty in finding a restaurant in this charming, quiet and ancient hill town, then came across the Osteria Dei Cansacchi. We were made welcome, by the owner, who didn't speak English, but we managed to communicate! The tortellini filled with pear and gorgonzola was just wonderful, we didn't want it to finish! The house wine was very good... More

The food is not bad here, though it's definitely overpriced, and the location is charming enough. The attitude of the staff (owners?), however, leaves a lot to be desired, and the way they calculate the bill is questionable to say the least. Finally, every time I produce my credit card to pay the bill, they refuse to accept it, saying... More

We love this restaurant. We have been back time and again. The food is amazing. The owners Pina and Alberto do not speak english but are very charming. Cansacchi is in the wall city of Amelia in Umbria. You will always get great cuisine. The pasta dishes are fabulous. The fish amazing and don't forget to try anything with truffle... More

It is my favourite restaurant in Amelia and I suggest it for every occasion. The owner, with his gentle wife, is a wonderful person who has a real passion for his work. I always eat very well - at affordable prices - especially fresh fish, but also meat. Try the big mussel and clam sauté or the "cartoccio Cansacchi" and... More

It is located in the heart of the historic district of Amelia with the typical narrow streets. I've been several times in this family owned restaurant and I was always extremely satisfied. It is possible to eat both fish (very fresh) and meat seated under a Roman roof. A special mention to my favourite appetizer called "caramella": it is a... More
