The Coco plantation was fun to tour and the guide was very funny. There is a restaurant on site which we also ate at and it was magnificent. They roasted pig which was quite tasty, there was a band playing that was really good and the service was excellent. At the end we had the most amazing chocolate drink! Definitely worth lunch and a tour

Small guided walk through a Coca trail, learning about the making of chocolate. It's a very light hearted but interesting tour which ends with the tasting of Chorote, which has to be the nicest hot chocolate I've ever tasted. Restaurant on site, with delicious food. Plenty of wildlife around the ranch plus if you walk about 5 minutes past the finca you get to Rio Duaba, a great place to swim and explore the jungle.

We were at Finca Duaba for the tour. Our guide, Juan Saname Rivero, was quite a character: an impish fun-loving teacher who engaged us every step of the way. We learned about the production of chocolate, all the possible uses of palm trees, etc.

This Finca just out of Baracoa is a plantswoman's paradise. It is a microcosm of Cuban plant and animal life and on the day we visited we had a most helpful and informative guide - he was funny and took no end of trouble to ensure that everyone was interested and engaged. He talked a lot about how Cubanos use their locally grown plants for not just food but to create tools and to make medicines and health remedies. The Cocoa Trail was fascinating and well explained and I was intrigued to see ingenious and home made equipment for the processing of the beans - but that's Cuba for you! At the end we went to the open air restaurant and drank chorote - which is like a particularly yummy hot chocolate drink. This a fascinating place and well worth the effort to visit if you managed to penetrate to this remote part of Cuba. I think that you can actually book a tour to go there - I think it's through Gaviota.
