We went for a breakfast while leaving from Kargil to Leh and what a fresh start of the morning it was. The cafe is really nice plus the service is amazing. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our time sharing different experiences of...people there. This makes a road trip travel complete as you meet good people and good food is a top up. Close to end of the main market in Kargil, this small cafe serves good food. Not too many options on the menu list, but what we had was really good. Very pretty sitting arrangement, lots of books, ample natural light, and very helpful management.

First of all the place is super cute and an amazing spot to chill, drink some chai, read books etc. The guys are really helpful and can advice you with neat trips around Kargil or to Zanskar valley considering your wishes/type of traveling. I went here after reading the reviews but was completely disappointed especially with the food. The ambience here is nice, you can play some board games and read books which was the only best thing about this place. Food here is pathetic. We ordered Oreo...shake which was priced 180₹ and lacked the taste of oreo itself, tasted like Bournvita mixed with cold milk with one oreo biscuit put on the top. Even other milk shakes were the same. After this we ordered 6 Maggi which was again so much overpriced and looked like 4 packets poured in 6 bowls.More

a Cozy and nice place, where you can find a lot of information about Ladakh and Zanskar. While drinking a chai you can organise with them a tour around the area. They are locals from Kargil and know the best spots to visit!!
Things changed for me dramatically concerning Kargil in August 2016. I stumbled across Roots Travel Café. I have been to Zanskar many times and Kargil was always an awkward overnighter on the way there. The food at the café was excellent and my partner and...I ended up spending three nights in Kargil due to RootsLadakh, part of the Café. This completely changed my experience and perception of Western Ladakh and I encourage anybody traveling through to stop and enjoy a meal and consider a day tour or a few. Roots cafe is the most amazing spot to chill out, read, play board games, use the wifi and drink delicious chai, coffee and hot snacks. At about 9 PM we visited this restaurant and it was a good restaurant. For dinner we ordered kashmiri food and they made it ready within 20 minutes and it was tasty.
Roots is a delightful team, one can stop by for food, chai, candid conversations and helpful bits of advice for your trips. The collection of boards games and books is vast, so you don't have to worry even if you walk in alone. This cafe was a pleasant surprise. When I got to Kargil I expected to find very basic facilities. However, this cosy and quaint cafe offers a wonderful escape from the small town realities of Kargil. This is a great place to chillout and catch up...on the ongoings of the world (because it has WiFI!!!!!) and also meet other travellers. Muzammil, Tafu and Imran who run the cafe are wonderful warm and interesting people, who are themselves bitten by wanderlust and can tell you a lot about the entire Ladakh region. I didn't get to sample the food, but their coffee was great and the environment was just what I needed to unwind and relax after a long ride from Srinagar. These guys are making a difference to their hometown, and you should definitely stop by to take a look if you are in Kargil.More
