We had an excellent meal at Thileni's several times during our holiday. The atmosphere is extraordinary
pleasant and the location on the beach excellent.
We enjoyed the sunset.
The menu is extensive and offers fine choices. The staff is very friendly and the owners are very attentive and customer-oriented.
We especially enjoyed the tuna preparations and the delicious cocktails. And all that for a very attractive price. In short, highly recommended if you are near Ahangama.

At UK prices this place is overrated. Poor service where the staff ignored us as a family. Didn't feel the atmosphere to be very inclusive, in spite of their attempt at creating a "hip" vibe. Food lacklustre and overpriced. Small portions (think maximum profit here) and "fusion" items like the "loaded popadums" made from cheap local ingredients (think maximum profit here) just didn't work. Better options elsewhere.

Even though there was today a powercut in the area and some of the items on the menu where not available, we had a great time today at thileni’s. I am very confused reading some other reviews about unequal treatment of foreigners and Sri Lankans. As a Sri Lankan I did not notice anything like this during the hours I spend at the venue. The staff was friendly, and I felt very welcome. Would visit again!

We visited the beach restaurant Thileni's. We had a delicious meal there.
The menu offers a wide variety, but the tuna and fresh fish we ate were very tasty. Thileni's is highly recommended: casual atmosphere, nice service and nice owners.

We had mixed feelings about the food at thilenis but o so glad we were wrong. Esp the red snapper was amongst the best fish we had in Sri Lanka. Some of our friends were vegetarian and they enjoyed their meal as well. Highly recommend !

Right on the beach and fabulous food! We watched the waves break as we sipped the gorgeous beverages and tasty food.
We had the tropical bomb. A smoothie made with pineapple passion fruit treacle and coconut milk, lion beer coconut crumbed prawns and the grilled pumpkin. Outstanding!

We got to this place and we’re totally ignored for five minutes. We asked a couple of staff members if we could sit anywhere or whether we needed to be seated, they just ignored us and carried on speaking to other people at the bar. It didn’t feel like a very nice place.

Nice location right on the beach.
But not extraordinary either. Best to drink only cocktails. Food takes forever and is okay, but have already eaten much better in Sri Lanka.
You have to know that you have to take off your shoes and give sand to a large extent.
Therefore, it is best to come with Fli Flops.

Such a beautiful place on the view with a stunning view, friendly staff (you can order in Sinhala English or Dutch ;)
It’s a place made with a lot of love which you can see in every detail.
The posters on the wall, the gorgeous plants and the lampshades. Ow and you would almost forget looking at the stunning view that the food is delicious!

Excellent seafood. Lots of different and interesting flavours, delicately cooked. Best meal we’ve had in a long time. Great setting overlooking the sea. Simple stylish decor and friendly helpful service. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

I had a wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner here a few times: pancakes, tunasalad, smoothies, fresh fruit, lovely! And then just stayed the whole day to read and relax, even fell asleep, everything is possible. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they really make you feel at home. Dinner is as delicious as the sunset is awesome. Go and see foor yourself. It's amazing!

If you want a super fast lunch, I would not recommend to go here. But if you want to spend some some time at the beach, while eating a tasty lunch, and enjoying the chill vibes and friendly service, than this place is the bomb! I had the best day here, no rush & really good beach vibes 🙂

We stumbled on this place by accident - you know it’s there from the beach but it is off the beaten track down a dark lane. We feel very lucky to have found it on me years eve and got there last seats in the house. What an atmosphere. Food was lovely, setting beautiful and the owners and staff were so welcoming and loving every minute of things! Thank you!
