My wife and I dined here on Saturday night, we don't go here often as we are aware it's more expensive than others, like £17 for a prawn curry but the food is good. I know when my food is pre cooked and warmed up that's why we waited quite a while on our dishes being served as they were... More

Always a friendly and warm welcome, with a good range of starters and main dishes. The specials are interesting tasty and well cooked. The portions are generous and we'll presented. The quality is variable between good and Excellent. Every time I have visited I have not been disappointed with the food, service or the relaxing atmosphere.

Just back after a delicious dinner. First thing I noticed was the absence of Strong curry smell , which I do not like. The dishes were very aromatic and tasted wonderful. Staff friendly and after asking what we liked, suggested dishes which did not disappoint. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Have been going to Shimla Cottage for takeaways for years now although stopped briefly because of small portions of meat in curries. So last night ordered pakora which was up to usual high standards as were accompaniments poppadoms etc.Problem again was the lack of meat in the lamb curry and chicken garam masala..5 tiny lamb pieces and 4 chicken pieces so... It's been a while but we three mates visited Shimla last night and it's as good as ever, even on a quiet Tuesday. The service has always been excellent and super friendly, and when my two indecisive friends asked for a recommendation, they got custom-made curries which were very tasty. I can't go past the chicken tikka masala, best in... More

I came here with my whole family we rarely eat out for Indian food but when we do Shimla Cottage is a must have. Every item on the menu is cooked from scratch and the taste and quality definitely reflect this. While the food is amazing the service is even better- nothing is too much bother and you feel part... Freshly made food with fresh ingredients prepared by a skilled chef - we are fans of Indian food but this is the best we have tasted.

Had a really good meal here on a wet Monday night. The staff are very welcoming and the restaurant has a relaxed feel. The food was delicious and served quickly.

Description
WELCOME TO SHAFIQ'S SHIMLA COTTAGE (formerly the Simla Restaurant) Initially opened in 1973,the Simla was, then, the only Indian restaurant serving Indian cuisine out with Glasgow-thus our pedigree beyond that of any Indian restaurant in the Paisley/Renfrewshire area. At the time ,my wish was to make the highest quality Indian cuisine available to the public, and now with the establishment of the Shimla Cottage,i am delighted to offer even greater quality and more extensive choice. The availability of fresh produce is,i believe, the foundation of good Indian food. Here at the Shimla Cottage we pride ourselves on our insistence on the finest quality ingredients, all year round. Fresh herbs and spice, such as coriander and green chillies, are constantly available to us. The quality of produce in Scotland is such that i feel the standard of our dishes on our menu far surpasses even the best to be found in India or Pakistan. I am proud to say that the Scots have a knowledge and appreciation of curries which is often greater than that of many Asian people. The Simla restaurant has long been regarded as the name for Indian cuisine. i believe that the Shimla Cottage is superior still. If you regard yourself as one who appreciates the best in life, then why not indulge your sensibilities at the Shimla Cottage. you will not be disappointed.
