This is a gem, Susan and Peter - owners, make it easy to reserve, ask you your preference of dish the day before. Nothing is made in advance, absolutely fresh every day. We had the chicken and the fish of the day. Very generous helpings, and great tasting. We finished off our meal with locally made coconut ice cream and a banana ice cream!! Excellent food and service. Thank you to both for a special island meal. A must in StLucia!!!

Our first visit to the Roots Bar. We took a 5
minute taxi up the steep road to the Roots. The atmosphere was very welcoming and casual. Sue the owner was very friendly and helpful. Her husband Fluffy did the cooking. His mother’s picture hangs on the wall, after all it was she who taught him to cook. Delicious and well worth the trip to taste some authentic Saint Lucian cuisine.

We've know Sue & Fluffy for a number of years now and its always great to catch up with them on the beach at Marigot Bay.
Sue always goes out of her way to supply me with my favourite tipple 'Coconut Rum' & Diet coke.
Fluffy cooks an awesome bbq Chicken meal with his special family recipe sauce.
Please take the time to visit these guys they are so welcoming you'll be a fool to miss out on theier hospitality!!

This was by far the best restaurant with the largest portions of any of the restaurants we tried during our entire stay here! Not to mention the most affordable! We met the owner (Sue) down at the beach the day before. She introduced herself and showed us one of her menus. We chatted it up a bit and decided to cancel our last night supper out in the Rodney Bay area to check out Roots. Decision we do not regret! We wished we would have discovered this little treasure prior to tonight!

On the beach, super-attentive service! Yummy coconut drinks, chicken BBQ was delicious.Would have liked to see a menu to have some idea of pricing on everything .

Dear S7327ZUattib, thank you for your review, however I am confused as Roots Beach Bar, my business, is not currently open and has not been for a few weeks due to renovations, I am concerned that persons are using our name to sell food and drink, I can assure you this was not Roots and you have been misled. We were staying in a local guest house and looking for an authentic experience, one of the locals mentioned Roots so my wife and I went and found them. We were welcomed by Sue and Fluffy, the owners, and made to feel at home. They mainly serve local drinks and beers, but we were lucky that day as they were cooking fish and chicken on the grill, Sue explained that they do not always cook on the beach as it has been very quiet and not cost-effective, however if people make a reservation 24 hours in advance they are happy to provide food. What we had was delicious and filled us up, Fluffy explained that he cooks all his food in a traditional manner the way that his mum taught him. It was a pleasure talking to him and learning all about the bay and traditional life.
All in all we had a wonderful time!
The only downside to our visit was nothing to do with Roots, it was the harassment by the beach boys when we were on our deck chairs, they were constantly offering us a drink called coco - loco which is basically a coconut split open with a shot of coconut rum, nice, but the prices were a complete rip off at $15 USD for one tiny coconut! Please be warned. Also there was a guy whom called himself "Will Smith"( I am sure that is not his real name), he was a real pain, coming out with all types of scams - ie he owns Roots ( umm no you dont I just met the owners), his mum is sick and he needs help ( I enquired with another local and they laughed and said his mum is perfectly healthy). This guy is definitely a scam artist and to be avoided!
The beach is lovely with plenty of palms offering shade, the sea was warm and wonderful for swimming - In conclusion, I would recommend this little beach bar we plan to return when we come back to the island next year.

Great food and great setting. Fantastic night and amazing service. If you can get there, would 100% recommend it. Make sure that you book. Very fair priced alcoholic drinks which we’ve not really found anywhere else. Will be trying Rootsz bar tomorrow in Marigot Bay!

Was back at Roots for about the 8th time in the last 5 years in November, the food & hospitality is always 5* , if you want fantastic local food & hospitality you will not go wrong, Sue & Fluffy are always fantastic hosts., we will be back in January 2022.

Roots is in a good location for locals and tourists to meet. I throughly enjoy visiting roots when I’m in St Lucia the locals are very friendly and the beach bar have always welcomed me every time I visit with good food and beverages.

Fluffy and Sue, great people, they do BBQ chicken and fish at their restaurant up the hill from Marigot Bay. worth a visit, Fluffy did a grand meal of chicken, with lots of lovely local accompaniments.
We had a great time hanging out most afternoons with a beer, and even the famous fluffy rum punch! watching the sun set, must mention their guest Vicki from Spain, great chatterbox,and afternoon drinks companion. defo recommend and will be back. thanks guys. Carolyn and Gary xx
p.s perhaps a few more outside seats as only 1 bench?

Had a great time hanging out with these folks. "Fluffy" and Sue are honest and very welcoming, and not always pushing for a quick buck. Lots of laughs.
If you come to Marigot Bay area, get out of the tourist area around the bay and go up the hill to the village. Most of the folks are very friendly and welcoming.

Friendly people hanging out. Coldest beer on the beach. Spectacular view of the bay. All 4 bars have beer, some have snacks and occasional food, Fluffy cooks on sight. Only option for sheltered seating.
