Straw Hat Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven-days-a-week, at our beautiful beachfront location at the Frangipani Beach Resort on Meads Bay Anguilla. Straw Hat is open annually from November through August and is closed in September and October. Beach chairs are available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis for our breakfast and lunch guests. Reservations are strongly suggested for dinner, and are helpful in securing our very best, beachfront tables. Straw Hat is also a very popular destination for special events including weddings, rehearsal dinners, birthday celebrations and corporate functions. Please contact us for more information. Having stayed at Frangipani, we received a $30 credit per day to the Straw Hat restaurant. So we had about 5 breakfasts and 2 dinners there.
We had the good fortune to have Shane wait on us; he is so personable that I remembered him from our last stay at Frangipani almost 6 years ago!
In addition to being such a wonderful waiter, he felt like a great friend. One thing my wife and I noticed was when Shane asked us what our plans were for the day, his recommendations were always spot on!
We only had Renee wait on us one time at breakfast, but we remembered her from 6 years ago too. She is very kind
Last but certainly not least, is the wonderful hostess Doris. Of course we remember Doris, she is like a ray of sunshine!
As for the food, breakfast had many options and was served quickly. Dinner was superb and the view is sublime

My family had the pleasure of visiting the Straw Hat last night for dinner. We had our resort call for a last minute dinner reservation and they were easily able to accommodate our group of six including four kids. The flavors were outstanding, and we enjoyed the plantain chips and fresh salsa, goat dumplings (even my picky kids liked these!), Snapper Fillet, and Curried Goat. The wine selections were also above average for offerings by the glass, and paired wonderfully with our meals. My only negative was that the pasta option on the kids menu was a very small portion size compared to most other kids menu portions at other restaurants. So if your kids have been swimming all day and worked up a huge appetite, you may want to plan on ordering extra appetizers, sides, or desserts. In my opinion, the ambiance of the restaurant made up for this sitting right on the beach with beautiful views, and being so accommodating for families with children that want a more elevated dining experience.

Fine dining ocean front of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Great food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed our dinner here that we returned the next night. If you are really lucky, the local gem (pictured below) will be accompanying your dinner. The only suggestion I have for this place is add some cafe lights. The location is very cute and the prime beach front location would absolutely sparkle and draw more attention with just a few strands of simple and elegant lights! The hostess could be a little friendlier as well. Both nights we felt like we inconvenienced them by asking for availability. The first night, we could tell that the manager sensed this and rushed right over to make us feel welcome. Our waitstaff was great.

We had high hopes for the restaurant based on the reviews, views and menu. Our food was great and the ambience was great as well. What was lacking was the service. For the price point, the service was sub par. We were seated immediately. As soon as we were seated we were given menus and asked if we wanted a drink and what we wanted for dinner. We hadn’t even opened the menus yet. Another server came and took our drink menus shortly after and again asked what we wanted for dinner. It was so quick we weren’t prepared. We figured out an order. Our drinks were great - though no one asked it we enjoyed them or if we wanted another or a glass of wine. Appetizers were really tasty. As we were enjoying them a group of servers appeared with our dinner and started moving our plates around to put our main dishes on the table - as we were still eating our appetizers. I was upset and said can you please wait until we’re done. They cleared our apps, gave us dinner without a word and never returned. No one checked on us. No one asked if we wanted wine with dinner. Not even if we wanted more water. Obviously the staff was upset that I didn’t want my main course with my appetizers. It was a Friday night, mid-evening reservation time and the restaurant was 1/4 full. They ugnored us the rest of the meal until we asked for the bill. Obviously we weren’t happy and the staff wasn’t happy but no one from management addressed it. They seemed happy we were leaving as they let us leave in silence. The food was great but service was more like Dennys than a fine establishment. I wouldn’t go back. Every other place in Anguilla was more welcoming and charming.

Two different breakfasts: Straw Hat is a very special place to us! Besides it being a short walk or car ride from our Carimar resort, we simply love the location of the restaurant-smack dab in the middle of Meads Bay. We have done dinner at Straw Hat twice in the past (and they were good), but we enjoy the breakfasts there even more. The French Toast with bacon and fruit breakfast is amazing!!! Bebe and the other staff members make you feel like family. Because of the great restaurant beach views, wonderful staff, and awesome breakfasts, we try to stop by Straw Hat at least twice on our two-week long vacation.

Spent the afternoon at Straw Hat in early May. We secured four beach chairs and two umbrellas for a great afternoon on Meads Bay. If you eat lunch, either in restaurant or on the beach, they will setup beach chairs for you to use for the afternoon. Great way to enjoy Meads Bay. We chose to enjoy lunch along with wonderful cocktails from our beach chairs. The food and service were great. The Anguilla people are so warm and welcoming. Most of the restaurants offer use of beach chairs if you eat there but I thought Straw Hat's location and more causal atmosphere made it the best choice.

We booked for 6:45 and arrived early, around 6:10. The place was mostly empty and when we asked for a beachfront table, the manager sat us in the second row. We finished our dinner in one hour, the food was lousy and expensive, and there was still plenty of open tables with beachfront views. Just appalling. Bad customer service and a pissy manager. Pass!

We were staying at Turtle Nest for 1 night and enjoyed two lunches and one dinner at the Straw Hat restaurant. It is literally 200m on the said or beach.
Service was excellent and the food was faultless. For both lunches we shared the one fish taco and on mahi-mahi sandwich. The dinner experience was equally good with lobster cake to start then two different fish mains.
The restaurant is adjacent to the beach with great views to enjoy while eating
Price point is good for the location and quality of food and service

We dined at Straw Hat for dinner a few nights ago and were welcomed by friendly staff and a stunning outdoor view. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere enhanced by the beautiful surroundings. While the ceviche starter was satisfactory, our entrées were better. My husband savored the flavors of the curry goat, while I enjoyed grilled tuna. Overall, a pleasant dining experience with good food and picturesque views. We recommend giving Straw Hat a try.

Straw Hat is a must while in Anguilla. The beach is absolutely beautiful, free chairs while you enjoy their delicious cuisine and the staff are attentive. The curry goat was not only filling but tasty. The Miami vice the bartender made was also superb. Thank you so all the staff at Straw Hat for the great experience.

We tried Straw Hat for both lunch and dinner. The location on Meads Bay is spectacular - we were able to use their beach chairs for free since we were having lunch there. Fabulous lunchtime views and very good food.
The dinner vibe was lovely and everyone enjoyed their meals. Its family friendly and we watched kids playing out in the sand while their parents had a relaxing dinner. We came a bit later, but I think they would have had beautiful sunset views as well.

We were really excited to try this sea side restaurant as the reviews were very good. We went for a midweek lunch and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The waitress was unfriendly and the food we ordered just wasn’t all that tasty. On the flip side, the location can’t be beat on Meads Bay.

We were seated by the bartender in an empty restaurant, except for one other table, late afternoon. It was apparent the tables were being prepared for dinner, but the restaurant advertised late afternoon snacks. I think there was some confusion if the bartender was to take our order or a server setting up the tables. After 20 minutes, and now the only table seated, my husband approached a woman who I suspect was a manager to ask if we order at the bar? She was very kind and immediately took care of our order and checked on us during our meal of appetizers. Our server did eventually come around to us, and we think she may have thought the bartender was taking care of us, or maybe she was involved with a task. We had the tuna flatbread and the spring rolls (3 pieces). Both delicious and presented nicely. We’re not sure if we’ll go back during this vacation. There are so many amazing restaurants on Anguilla to choose from, and with service being part of a dining experience, the communication seemed poor among the staff.

We stayed at Frangipani and ate breakfast here several times. We also ate dinner here. The restaurant sits right on Meads bay. The views are great. The breakfast options are all good. On various days I had oatmeal, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and omelette. All were great. When we went to dinner I had grilled fish with a tasty lemon butter sauce. The staff takes great care of you. An enjoyable place to grab a meal. They also have beach chairs and umbrellas to use during the day

In Anguilla there are so many beautiful beachside options it's hard to choose. Straw Hat has the view, it has excellent service and good food. What's the "twist"? Most of the upscale spots leave you hungry for more. At Straw Hat the tasty Asian salad is truly a meal and when you add a generous portion of grilled chicken you run the risk of having a bit left over. The club sandwich startled my wife, pleasantly, first with "real" turkey and then with a side of fries big enough for me to poach a few and not feel bad about leaving her with only a few. When you then wander over for a bit to one of their beach chairs to let lunch settle in or walk the beautiful beach you have the perfect Anguilla afternoon. We're headed back tomorrow for another lunch, some more beach and the ultimate test, their cocktails.
