We were staying close by and were tired after a long day on trains in Italy, so we found the closest open restaurant. As others have mentioned, we did not think it was a restaurant at first, just shop of meats, cheeses and beer, but it is a really cool restaurant...very laid back and casual. We were there a little... More

We got in too late for lunch but the lovely server put together a delicious plate of cold meat and cheese for us and made absolutely sure that it was enough for lunch. We went back the next day to try their actual lunch and it was just as tasty. Despite specialising in beer, the wine was also really nice.

Small, with charming ,friendly lady, who spoke Italian in a way I could understand. Limited menu, excellent and plentiful food, delicious and all tasting home-made. We enjoyed it all.

The kitchen opens at 7 pm, so typical Italy. We arrived early, so they prepared some delicious antipasti. It was very very good so we had to buy some salami with us!

Great local food! Typical specialties of the Tuscan countryside, served in a no frills way. Very cosy and friendly.

Just got back from dinner at La Bottega Matta and what a good place it is. You could be forgiven for thinking it wasn't a restaurant and think it was a bar or a shop but it is both of those and a restaurant. Excellent starter of cooked meats and cheese and Cici pasta dished to follow. Really simple and... More

Phenomenal antipasti & craft beer, owner doesn't speak too much English, but he made me a great selection to try.

We've just had dinner at La Bottega Matta and we are very happy we actually chose to go there for food. We shared a delicious platter as a starter - followed by pici in a sauce made of breadcrumbs fried with oil, garlic and chili (really tasty!) and my boyfriend had gnocchi with ragù sauce. Homemade pasta is a plus!... More

We stayed in Montepulciano for two weeks in June and had the pleasure of dining at Bottega Matta and enjoying some fine Italian craft beers. This is not a typical Tuscan restaurant. It's more of a roadside bar...a locals spot for a snack or meal and some great beer and wine. Matta is a wonderful host, always taking time to... More
