I have been in this restaurant a few times. I still enjoy the ambience that feel like going back in time. The food, is above average but I see that their rating is dropping. This is because there are more and more new hotels and eateries for people to choose from. Apart from the location, the food, as I said... More

We have been to Albergue 1601 three times altogether and have really enjoyed it each time. The spicy clam dish is great as well as the suckling pig - highly recommend both. The portion sizes are very generous, unfortunately there was more garlic than prawns in the starter but we will always go back to the restaurant when we visit... More

The restaurant is a hidden gem. Set in a Portuguese historical building of the previous old ladies home, the restaurant is a well-kept secret and is simply beautiful! We enjoyed the authentic Portuguese dishes, a good selection of wine too.Reasonably priced, good service with cheerful and attentive staffs. An after dinner stroll to the neighbourhood of St Lazarus perfected the... More

The restaurant atmosphere is great but the food was just ok, nothing special. We were there with a big group so it was pretty noisy but I assume it is usually pretty quiet. The building is very nice and traditional.

I really was expecting a nice treat going to this place. The service and ambiance is excellent and the building is exquisite, but sadly the food doesn't live up to the grandeur of the location.

Set authentically and unusually in the upstairs of a Portuguese colonial building in a beautiful courtyard, Alberge 1601 has superb ambience, tranquil context and deep character. Often these are used to cover for poor quality, but absolutely not in this case. We sought out and selected it as an indicative traditional Portuguese offering in the quiet, artistic and beautiful St.... More

This is my third visit to this restaurant located in a quaint little courtyard and I still enjoyed the luncheon menu. Excellent Portuguese food being served from various seafood dishes to roast crispy skin pork which is very delicious. If you have a group of friends going, should try to share and sample different dishes for the experience.

Went here for lunch. The location is nice, on an old side street. The restaurant ambience was great, old Portuguese feel with the high roof and old wooden floors. Had the African chicken which was cooked to perfection! Service was great

When you step into the courtyard, you would feel yourself is in Europe instead of Macau. This restaurant is inside a heritage building which not a lot of people know this place, so it is less crowded. My favourite dishes are seafood rice and clam, both are delicious and authentic. After meal, take a 5 minutes walk to the Ruins... More
