We took a day trip to Vegreville on a recent afternoon and decided on Ukrainian food for our lunch. Since we'd heard good things about the Vegreville Train Station, we decided to give it a try. Imagine our disappointment when arrived only to find a hand lettered sign on the front door stating the place was closed. I've given this... More

Good , simple, Ukrainian food. In spite of some of the rather poor reviews in the past, we decided to give it a try - and were very glad we did! Started with the borscht, and then shared the Ukrainian plate. Both were very good and perfect mid way lunch stop. If you are looking for 'high-end' food, this won't... More

I never write reviews but this place was so bad I had to. Our family love Ukrainian food and were in Vegreville for a wedding so we made reservations at the Train Station for dinner for 12 people 3 hours in advance. The buffet only had about 8 items on it but most of us decided on the buffet. The... More

Saturday is the only day (1-10pm) that they are open to the public despite what the highway signage and the signage in their own parking lot says. It is still the only place to get Ukrainian food in Vegreville which is such a travesty. The Pysanka pulls in visitors 365 days a year but Ukrainian food is available only one... More

Thank you for dropping by. As I recall we had a pleasant conversation and I opened up and prepared our Ukrainian plate for you even though I was closed to the public. As a private small business I do not have access to grants available to municipalities or non profits to purchase period decor so as a result I update... More

I had the absolute worst perogies I've ever had in my life. And no liquor licence. Got a big lecture about this from the owner. I would never go back and people in that town are excessively rude. Place has a lot of potential for someone with some taste, both culinary and interior design, of which they have none.

It is too bad you felt that way. I apologize for the delayed response. I do in fact have a liquor license. I also have local Ukrainian ladies helping me and must have since perfected my recipe because have had nothing but good reviews. I invite you to come back so that I can personally provide the service that locals... More

This is a wonderful restaurant in an incredible setting. Yes, it's in an old train station and it feels like taking a step back in time - because - it was built in the early 30's!! After your meal, ask the owner to give you a tour of the building - the history is quite amazing! Old pictures & local... More

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. My plan is to meld the art, music & atmosphere of this fantastic old building with the cousine of the area and share it with those traveling through. Please drop by again. We are only open Saturday's at this time though. More

Heard it was open, took a girlfriend from Edmonton, it was like walking into 1938. It smelled bad, the people (65+) kept looking at us, and even the waiter at the time wouldn't recommend any of the food...so we just paid for our coffee and left. Have never been back.

It is unfortunate you did not have a good experience here. I invite you to come back but I must warn you that the décor has not changed as I want to create the atmosphere from the 30's - 50's when the train station was at it's prime. We have had great responses since your visit so I hope your... More

Very friendly small town atmosphere. Good food served in a quaint old fashioned train station. The best cheese cake that I have ever tasted.
