Little cafe overlooking the water to the mainland. Good bowl of soup and cup of coffee. Very friendly staff, the only downside is to be aware that there are no toilets on site but there are some just across the road. Not a problem for us at all but it may be for some.

We go into the dancing midge for breakfast every time we are in Millport. The breakfast could not be better, always fresh and you get exactly what you ask for. The home made soup is so tasty. The staff are amongst the nicest, friendliest folk on the island. I highly recommend it for everyone. It's just smashing !

Had lunch here the first day we arrived for our Easter break and had chilli with a view of the bay. Came back and Hubbie had full Scottish which he said was almost the best he's ever had. I had the French toast with maple syrup which was amazing so good we came back the following day for the same... More

Just popped in last week on our walk round the island. Coffee and scones were the order of the day and they were delicious.

I cycle in Millport quite a lot through the year and I usually use the Ritz cafe but if you read my review of that place you will understand why I decided to try the dancing midge. Well what can I say, here's a few words for starters, clean, bright, welcoming, happy, modern. I popped in before I started my... More

Nice place, nice coffee, great food, but so so dog unfriendly. On a place like Millport you would think they would be more relaxed - like Nardinis at the Pier, Bagel Basket, etc, in Largs. They quote H&S, hygiene, etc - crap. Jury out on their decision. They sow what they reap.

Firstly, thank you for your kind remarks about our good food and coffee. Our no dogs policy is far from "crap". We did allow dogs in the cafe when we first opened, but unfortunately we had a couple of bad incidents involving dogs, and as customers and staff safety are our main priorities, we decided not to let dogs in...
