What a lovely location. Dine al fresco in a lovely courtyard or inside, both offer a very nice atmosphere and it's obviously a very chic and trendy place. Lots of 'beautiful people' to watch. We had a pre-arranged dinner specially prepared by the chef, which was very good, and the menu looked excellent so I would definitely return for the ambience alone if not for the food ... but the surprise that made this locale a real find in my book was the little boutique upstairs ('Amethyst', a branch of a larger Chennai boutique) which had lovely fashions at very reasonable 'fashion' prices (a lovely gauzy dinner dress for Rs 12,000/US$168), a two-piece linen pants suit for Rs 10,000; fashionable casual tops for Rs 4,000/US$55. There is also a little bookstore that I didn't have enough time to investigate. Another plus: it's only a 4-minute walk from there to the popular shop 'Anokhi' and the most popular hotels.

My friend and I ate at the restaurant 3 times as we were attracted to the outdoor garden seating and escape from the noisy surrounding streets. Located in White Town, the restaurant is an enclosed restaurant with a pastry shop outside and a shopping boutique upstairs that includes a popular children’s bookstore. The menu had some great vegetarian selections. There was some difficulty getting the bill as the waiters serve both inside and outside tables with outside being ignored. Also, the outside kitchen was very noisy, so some management issues need to addressed.

A large cafe with a big open seating area. The interiors look very nice and pleasant if you are lucky/early enough to get a seat indoors. The place was buzzing with people (all college kids and 20s something crowd) when we went there, and only the outdoor tables were available. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, and operates on a first come first serve basis (this is what they claim) We were rudely turned away by the security at the gate who claimed the place was closed, but we let ourselves in after we saw him let in a group of people who arrived after us!
In terms of the food, we ordered the pita with pink hummus and baba ganoush. They were decent, however my husband did not enjoy his prawns (too oily). I enjoyed the red wine sangria. Service is quite prompt given the crowd. Overall a decent place to have a decent food and drinks and take photos for IG. If you want a quiet family place, give this place a miss.

Visited for lunch, it's recommended to get a reservation early on, but didn't seem like you needed one on a Friday afternoon, the place was relatively empty. The food was average, only the Posh n Pink pasta is a must try, the only dish that we found good. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall good vibes to the place to sit and chill with friends, food & drinks wise on the expensive side.
Visit for a chill time in the day/night.

Great feeling has you step in, the greenery is a welcome sign. since it was warm we stuck to the inside and the look and feel is a typical French old home.
Our drinks were just perfectly made and came in quick time, even though we were late for lunch. Quite some tables occupied but the steward understood our hunger pattern.
The food the main course and the starters were perfectly prepared and so enjoyed every bite. The only delay was the focaccia bread which, we understand that he had to warm it but we relished on the food.
The desserts needed to be selected from the display, since its specials for the day and i and my colleagues enjoyed every bite of all our desserts which we took turns and tasted.
I saw smiling faces with the other guest also, so i am sure it would be a thumps up by all. Cannot judge so i leave it to them.

Located in the by lanes of the white town district in Pondicherry, Coromandel cafe is housed in a beautifully restored French colonial building. Coromandel cafe is a fine dining place with both indoor and outdoor seating. For me this was the best discovered property in Pondicherry. We sat at the bar which had a large collection of alcohol ranging from whiskies to Gins, vodkas etc. They also had very interesting cocktails and mocktails that we tried. The food menu was also very impressive unfortunately we had had a late lunch and were two stuffed to try the the food here. The outdoor seating was also very cozy and in no time every single table in this large restaurant was occupied. Kindly note that this property is expensive as compared to most of the restaurants in Pondicherry.
Coromandel cafe also has a boutique on the 1st floor and sells designer clothing.

I was recommended by a friend to visit this restaurant and i must say, I'm glad I did. It is situated in a huge colonial bungalow and as you walk in you are greeted by the greenery and the grand facade of the building. There is some outdoor seating and a small outlet for their bakery. The first floor covers the restaurant and the second-floor houses the boutique and The interiors are elegantly done, with a little private seating too just off the main seating of the restaurant. The bar is well stocked and the bartender mixed a great Margherita for us. The menu is European for the most part, with a little hint of Indian fusion for some dishes. We ordered fish and chips, which were excellent and so were the dips accompanying it. The service is quick. We had Tiramisu and Lemon tart for dessert which was delicious. This is rated in the top restaurants of India and I would definitely go back given a chance.

Our experience in the Cafe was average. Food, service and interiors are best in class, however, the attitude of manager Shankaran was rude. Not only us, we noticed he was saying many guests to wait for 20-30 mins in a very rude way. This is a very renowned Cafe in pondicherry so no doubt it will be crowded but it has to be addressed in a better way. Rest all staff are very nice and smiling always.
1 star removed for manager's behavior
Hope the management takes better decisions to maintain this heritage and beautiful place with the help of good managers.

Coromandel Cafe is located in the White Town near the Promenade.
We went there for lunch and ended up spending almost 3-4 hours at this amazing bungalow cafe.
They have a good spread of Italian, French and American food with alcohol. We tried their Bagel with cashew basil cream cheese along with stir-fried veggies. It was really good and then we tried their cookie Nutella cake. We had an amazing lunch and really loved the ambiance of this place.
The cafe also has a cute little book store along with a boutique. I highly recommend this place for a meal. the place looks very lovely in the evening with a lot of indirect lighting and candles on the table. You can choose to sit in the indoors or veranda or the outdoor garden.
you are definitely going to be spoilt for choice in this beautiful place.

We followed our path to this cafe. We were not earlier sure but as soon as we entered the ambience was blew us off. Slightly on the costlier side but worth every penny, I didn't regret ordering anything and we did order few dishes including - MushroomTortellini, pizza and Fish n Chips. Every bite was worth the money.
I would highly recommend their Iced Teas.
Also do try their baked cheesecake.

I went on a lunch date and nothing was more suitable for this occasion than the famous Coromandel cafe in Pondicherry. The place didn't have a designated parking space and we went around the white town a bit before we got a spot near the Bharathiyar park. We were offered a seat near the kitchen in the outdoor area as the air-conditioned indoors were full, expectadly on a weekend afternoon. Service was prompt and we savored the Pink hummus Pork and Burger. Pork roasted was exceptional with juicy presentation. Burgers could have been less salty and more stuffed. But we thoroughly enjoyed and would go again soon. Highly recommended for couples

Coromandel café offers a wide variety of exotic Indian and international delicacies. The cucumber and mint cooler was refreshing and hydrating and is the drink that I needed to cool off in the heat and humidity of Puducherry. Followed by mushroom and tofu skewers and a mouth watering plate of ravioli the food was simply amazing and worth the price.
Although, a suggestion would be to reserve a table as the seating options would become limited to outdoors and the waiting time increases for air conditioned seating as the weather might not be the most suitable to enjoy a relaxed dinner.

Wonderful experience from start to finish, had some fantastic meals while in India, but nothing has topped this. Steak was cooked to perfection, cocktails were fabulous, and we were offered a sample of wine before we purchased a bottle. Hospitality at its best, totally faultless, cannot recommended enough, well done to all staff!

My family and I drove to Pondy just for a break and decided to have lunch at coramandel cafe today. my daughter researched and decided to have the meal at this cafe. She called one day prior and asked for a table and she was told no reservations and only first come first serve. We landed and waited for sometime and got the table. The menu, choices and the quality of food are excellent but the staff need to chill a little bit. Most of the staff are very stiff. I did tell them that I drove all the way to the cafe just to have a meal - no one really cared much except for the manager. The manager and the bearer Vinod were very courteous. Overall, it was a worthy experience but the staff were overwhelmed with the crowd.

We were in Pondicherry for 3 days and had two suppers, a lunch and several cups of coffee. It is beautifully appointed and the food at every meal was so delicous. I am still dreaming about the Andaman prawns and the vegetable curry - if you have eaten enough on the menu there is the most wonderful shop upstairs filled with so many things I wanted to buy. A perfect place to visit.
