We have been many times to this restaurant, usually after a walk around Karangahake Gorge. Good friendly service and nice outdoor eating area. It's not very big but is quite charming

We dropped by after a visit in the gorge for a quick bite and ended up staying for 2 hours. The food and wine were great and so were the staff. They even offered to change the menu and were happy to show our 4 year old how pasta is made. This was one of the gastronomic highlights on our... More

We called here early in the day to have a look at the menu with the idea of returning for lunch. Several hours later we were back there enjoying a lovely setting and a lovely menu to choose from. Two couples and each person chose a different dish, everyone was happy with what they chose and would return to try... More

After a stunning walk through the gorge we crossed over to the winery for lunch. Food and wine was excellent. As was the service and hospitality. Totally relaxed dining in the sunny courtyard. The kids amused themselves with the resident dog and cat. It was great to be able to take advantage of a children's menu here too. Can't recommend... More

We always stop here when travelling through the Karangahake Gorge. The hospitality is second to none - friendly and welcoming, no matter how busy, with gorgeous food, beautifully presented in a wonderful, 'tucked away' setting (we love to sit outside if fine, but it is always toasty inside in the cool weather.

Perfect, following our walk around the Gorge and tunnel we decided to try Ohinemuri Estate Winery for a light lunch. We were warmly greeted on entering the reception area and shown to our table. Cold water was provided and a menu given with time to peruse before making our choices. Specials were explained and we made our choices. Food, coffees... More

Lovely country restaurant/winery. The venison burger was excellent, the seafood chowder only average. Try the Taniwha blended red wine - lovely taste.(it does not taste like 'ribena for adults' as described on the wine list) Friendly staff and indoor/outdoor dining options. Car parking is restricted next to the restaurant but there is plenty of parking on the riverside across the... More

The Estate is in the heart of the Karangahake Gorge. It is only 200 meters from the tunnel portal of the main walking/cycle trail and has its own access from there. It could not be easier. The Karangahake end of the Gorge offers fantastic tracks, many of them loops of differing lengths. There is a huge amount of history and scenic attraction in the area and the winery and restaurant are a well-deserved treat. Karyn, the chef, prepares wonderful gourmet food, which complements Horst's lovely range of wines. The summer garden setting is relaxed and peaceful and a wonderful interlude between walking or biking. In winter there is an open fire. Platters, full or light meals are available
