We booked this restaurant as a treat for our wedding anniversary as we had heard good reports. The atmosphere was nice and chilled and our drinks arrived promptly. I ordered the pigeon for my starter which was tasty but very chewy. My husband ordered the duck croquet which was divine. For my main course I was tempted by several but... More

We booked here as our hotel was full for dinner. The service was good, water and bread straight away. The goats cheese tart tatin and pit rib were well received, although the rib sauce might have been a little over reduced, and the accompanying wine finished it off. The puddings, a salt caramel panacotta with ginger and bead and butter... More

A really great atmosphere here. For dinner, we shared the grilled asparagus entree; for main courses, I had the beer batter fish and chips and my husband had the rib eye steak. All were well presented and delicious, and a definite recommendation for the area.

Eleven of us arrived for lunch on Saturday 13th May for my Fathers 80th Birthday. We were seated in a lovely private dining room upstairs. There is a balcony and seating area off the room which we sadly couldn't use as the weather was rather cool that day.. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. Despite the family... We were very excited to eat here since we had heard rave reviews of the place. We went straight for a main course of cod which was divine and portion size was good. I had the cheese course that was a bit disappointing due to the choices available which were all very samey, but my partner had the chocolate mint... More

We had lunch here on Saturday. The place is decorated very well with dark walls, and rustic wood. The dark colour is punctuated with beautiful photographs which 'pop' from the walls. Its just a shame about the one watercolour hanging over the fireplace as this is totally out of keeping with the rest of the decoration... this follows a similar... More

We've visited Rowley's twice now, on a Saturday and a Sunday with both visits occurring at around midday. We were seated immediately both times, served ice water and given time to browse the menu. The food is excellent, while the staff are friendly and attentive. While paying the bill I enquired about whether Rowley's serve gluten free bread. Although the... More

We were in the Peak District over the Easter weekend with our daughters and their partners to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Our daughters treated us to dinner at Rowley's and we were all really looking forward to it. Sadly our table was not in the welcoming bar area, nor the cosy galleried dining area - it was in a... If you look at my last review of this restaurant, you will see that we have been eating here for a long time, and, with Abi and the rest of the team, have had some memorable food and fantastic times. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. I could waste a lot of space here by listing the dreadful service, attitude,... More

Rowley’s Restaurant and Bar sits on the edge of the beautiful Chatsworth Estate in the pretty village of Baslow. Our passion is fresh, seasonal food using local ingredients in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
The bar is a great place to meet up with friends, open from 10 am serving Fairtrade coffee. Call in at any time for a glass of wine, hand crafted beer from a local brewery, or join us for a light lunch or an informal dinner. Rowley’s boasts three contemporary dining areas, ideal for lunch, supper or dinner.
We will look forward to welcoming you soon.
