We booked one night, to break up a long trip to Cornwall. We asked for a ground floor room due to our mobility problems, we got room 10. It was a good size, clean and well maintained, the shower was particularly good. We ate in...the restaurant at night and the food was of good quality, tasty and a good price. There was a good selection of beers, again at a reasonable price. Breakfast, was served in the restaurant area and there was a good selection for most palates. The staff were very welcoming, polite and helpful during our stay. We were disappointed that we could not stay there on our return journey as it was fully booked!More

My husband attends castle Coombe race days and we need to stay overnight. Decided to go out for evening meal and wow what a find. Not only were all 3 main meals delicious the Irish coffee to finish with was smooth and very moorish. So...wish this gem of a pub was nearer to home.....More

Hands down one of the best pubs in the UK and without a doubt the best sticky toffee pudding in Britain. Helen, Simon and the team provide a warm welcome and I love that every week the bar is stocked with different Local draught Ales....The food is phenomenal and the staff always go the extra mile. Highly recommended.More

Highly recommend staying here. We stayed for one night, room was lovely, all covid precautions taken, staff helpful and very friendly. The pub was lovely, cosy and the food was delicious. We had the stilton sauce with the steak and was simply the best sauce...we have ever tasted! Next time we would order a few jugs as was the perfect dip for anything especially the chips. The chef was so lovely and friendly and even told us his secret receipt - I can't praise this yummy sauce enough! The breakfast was included and again was lovely which set us up for our journey home. Thank youMore

We had a warm welcome and help allowing me use of the most easily accessible entrance. Covid restrictions were followed strictly making one feel very safe. The service was extremely efficient and friendly. One of the 2 vegetarian main dishes available that evening was really...excellent and the other very good, We shared a delicious sweet to end the meal. We were so glad we had booked dinner for 2 at The Jolly Huntsman Inn when staying for the night nearby. The car park was full but we were able to park a little way up the lovely village main street.More

When staying in a hotel locally we decided to book a table here for an evening meal, instead of eating in the hotel restaurant, and what a good decision that was. A very good food menu different from your usual pub grub and we both...went for the Pork and black pudding roulade and excellent they were. This is a Free House also known for good ales and although there were only two real ales on in these strange Covid restriction times both the Butcombe Original and Otter Bitter were in good condition. A warm welcome and good service levels from the young restaurant section staff, this is clearly a well run village pub and long may it continueMore
