We had perfectly good food and reasonably priced drinks (happy hour) served by friendly and helpful staff who answered all questions honestly and fairly. Questions were posed after reading some reviews. We were told there would be a 35-minute wait on the food because of a large group (most free tables were reserved) so no worries there. By the time... We had a gluten free pizza which was very nice. Freshly cooked and a nice pepperoni topping. Drinks were very reasonable price and the views were great.

Expensive options, long wait, loud unpleasant music in dingy open plan food hall. When our food eventually appeared it was played up by 3 shameless 'chef's. How can anyone at all feel happy in that place. Couldn't wait to get our foul food so we could eat it and leave. Worst dining experience I've has for absolutely years.

Large place noisy music but we were hungry We queued up at the bar & ordered our food & only after we'd paid were told of the 40 minute wait. In the end we waited ONE WHOLE HOUR for our food. I had a salad but DH had hot food which was at best warm. They clearly cater for coach... More

Queuing at the bar to order and then paying up front and going to collect your meal half an hour later is not my idea of a good restaurant. However, having said that the the food was rather good if you only want steak, burgers or fish and chips.

The food was good but fairly typical for New Zealand restaurants (at least as we experienced). However, the location is fantastic and views were stunning. Be prepared to order at a counter (which can be slow), to pick up your own food when it is ready, and to clear your own table ... but for a "hostel" type environment, it... More

We ate here on our first night and we'll be eating there again tonight. Good food and beer in a good open bar at a very reasonable price. The bar and kitchen service were very good and of course they have wonderful views. Great

I should start this by saying I very rarely write a negative review. We came here one evening whilst staying at the Mt Cook motel and it was a really unpleasant experience! The venue itself is a cross between a tacky ski resort and bad Centre Parcs restaurant (I like Centreparcs). Prices are extortionate, you have to queue for ages... More

We visited here in the evening for a beer and evening meal. Both were very good and the place has a very relaxed feel to it.

There are limited choices for dining at Mt. Cook and Chamois is clearly the low cost option. The food quality is reasonable. The dining hall is a large open room with a fantastic view of the mountain. However, if you are hungry and ready to eat, this is not the place for you. We waited over an hour for our... More
