Looked for somewhere to meet friends and the Ship was our choice. Quirky decor but it worked perfectly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Choice of meals was not massive but enough for most and we usually find that for smaller places a smaller menu is better and this definitely the case here - food was excellent, hot and tasty. Four... Hubbie and I have visited the Ship last year and again last week. He had steak and I had the lamb - although we tasted each others! We shared the baked cheesecake for dessert (no room for 2 puds as dinners substantial!) and again - all beautifully cooked and presented - gorgeous! Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. We will... More

Saw this place whilst out for a drive with my hubby and mother in law so decided to pop in for a cuppa. The decor is fab and the whole place is spotlessly clean. We had a lovely spot right next to the fire where we were able to take our time and enjoy our drinks. Prices very reasonable and... More

The Ship is perhaps not what you’d expect of an “Inn” being instead a well-stocked delicatessen, quality butcher, warm informal café – and excellent restaurant. We visited just after Christmas so the festive menu was still available. The wild pigeon breast starter was perfectly cooked slightly pink and came with a smooth, dense port sauce. The terrine clearly benefited from... More

Good little pub with an element of quirkiness. Thought staff were friendly and setting nice. The boutique style shop within the pub confounds is a clever addition. Food looked decent but didn't eat on this occasion.

outstanding meal, steak was very tender & tasty. My wife loved the liver & bacon over mash. Will definitely be going back.

We were treated by our friends to dinner at the Ship. We have eaten the before and it was very good. The staff are still very good however the Sunday roast was abysmal. The beef was chewy and one meal had to go back as too rare. The roast spuds were square grey tasteless lumps. The other veg was cold... More

Found this lovely place whilst on a circular walk from Rye. Lovely tea & cake helped us to finish our walk. Great, friendly service too!
