A very good cafe with good food and good service. We had fish, chips and salad. The fish was terekihi and beautifully cooked. It was on a Thursday night at 6.00 with very few people. It deserves more. The waiter was very pleasant and obliging.

The fish tasted bad, both pieces and it smelt bad too. The waitress was very apologetic and offered me something else from the menu. this is the second time I have been here and had a disappointing meal. the first time my lamb shank was only just warm which was the same as the other 2 diners at my table.... Had scottish visitors so why not the Aberdeen for lunch. Given there were only 5 dining you would think the staff would have had time to: 1. Wash the floor as it was sticky to walk on. 2. Change the burnt out candles on the tables. 3. Iron the black fabric tablecloths 4. Repair the door hinge on the only... More

Very quiet when we went. The barman was really friendly and helpful. The wine list wasn't extensive but the Loopline pinot gris was very acceptable. Just looking for a snack, we tried the bread & dips, the highlight of which was a home-made onion marmalade. Delicious.

I'm not sure what has happened to this place - we used to enjoy eating out here, but the last time we went, it was empty. Food was average, where it used to be pretty good. Service was OK, but the whole atmosphere was uninviting, as if the staff felt they had better things to do. Not recommended.

Barman was friendly enough but the place lacks any atmosphere and looks pretty tired. The menu was totally uninspiring so we had a drink and moved on. This place needs some work.

Had lunch here during a day trip to the wine country from Wellington. Although the building was nicely renovated, the interior lacked atmosphere. Service was friendly and food OK.

Grand building on the outside and great food. Menu has all the main food groups. Bread and dips was awesome. Mains were also good, great sauces for the lamb shanks and chicken. Interior is a bit stark, looks like it turns into a dance club later in the evenings. Only downside was the service, waitress didn't know what the fish... More

With the outdoor area, this is a great place for a drink and a snack in the sun. Looking forward to summer.

Tried the garlic cob as an entree, very nice, then had a steak as a main. Verry filling and great flavours. Definitely going back, warm and inviting atmosphere.
