Decided to pop in here last weekend after hearing some good reviews. We called and booked and were advised that on the weekend you need to sit in the bar to order tapas, so we booked a table for 4 at the back of the bar which was no issue. Wasn't sure what to expect but did not need to... More

We don't usually venture out for New Year's Eve but after seeing their NYE meal and entertainment advertised we decided why not! And we weren't disappointed, the food was fabulous and the waitresses attention to service was spot on. The music was very enjoyable, the singer had a beautiful voice coupled with a very talented guitarist, just the right volume... More

Seemed to be the same menu as when I went 2 months ago. Service was ok, my main was quite cold and as I was so hungry I didn't send it back, eating a meal 10 minutes after my husband had finished wasn't what I wanted. I had the monkfish and prawns. Mentioned to 2 waitress with no offer of... More

A nice enough restaurant that is let down by slow service and and inflated prices. The food is OK, not much more, but the service, whilst friendly, is patchy and slow. Given the variable service and food the prices just feel slightly over-inflated.

I have visited this restaurant on several occasions since moving to the area. We decided to book a table for 4 on New Year's Eve . I mentioned it to another friend and her and her husband also sat next to us. I would like to point out that the food was as allways delicious. However, I was so disappointed... More

We really enjoyed having a late afternoon lunch on Christmas Day, the first time we have not cooked it ourselves. There was a great atmosphere when we arrived in the bar for some pre-dinner champagne and the staff Alex and Daisy did a superb job managing the throng. The food was excellent as always and there was no hint of... More

Dinner for two in this lovely busy restaurant on New Year's Eve. They had low key live music playing which created a lovely atmosphere. The food couldn't have been better, I had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and my partner had halibut. We had extra potatoes as we read the menu and the halibut came without any potatoes... More

I have visited Goose Fat and Garlic many times over the years but after our experience on Xmas day, I will not be returning. We had a lovely starter and sorbet but when our main courses arrived, I had the beef which looked lovely but my partner had the halibut which came with 2 raw carrots and 3 new potatoes.... More

The menu in the Goose Fat and Garlic is fantastic, there is also a Tapas option available which you can order if you sit at the bar. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's a good place to go with friends, family or as a couple. It's a licensed premise in the evenings and staffed by SIA security, it's... More

Description
Situated in the centre of historic Sawbridgeworth, Goose Fat and Garlic offers something for every palate and every occasion. A range of menus caters for everyone from the casual diner looking for a quick lunchtime sandwich, to a business meeting over an a la carte dinner. A set price a la carte menu during the week offers a great dining experience at a very reasonable price, and an authentic tapas menu is a great causal eating option - ideal for groups. The bar attached to the restaurant provides the perfect meeting place for those just wanting a drink, or for pre and post- meal gatherings, and is known for its great cocktails and extensive wine and beer choices. The ambiance is smart but relaxed.
