My husband, daughter and I had a lunch at the Lions Cafe while visiting Matala in August. The service was friendly without being intrusive. Great food. Free wifi. Clean washrooms. The views looking out to the beach were lovely. We would return.

After 2 hours drive we got to matala beach where we had a great day out. Fantastic place for swimming. The main thing was that we had absolutely great lunch after in this lovely place called Lion Caffè. Stunning view from the 1st floor balcony was good addition to the meal. My wife had a great salad and my lamb... More

My mum and dad have been coming to matala for 11 years and the lions restaurant is there favourite place. The staff are super friendly and so attentive (my dad's beer is always on the table before he makes it up from the beach). The food is fresh and so tasty and a visit to the kitchen to see the... When we arrived in Matàla our first priority was to find somewhere to watch England v Wales in the Euros. We were welcomed in and although we didn't eat on this occasion we enjoyed a couple of drinks ( but not the result) in friendly surroundings. Given this positive first impression we decided to take our evening meal at the... More

We were served a grilled octopus which was obviously too old and hard, uneatable. The waiter did not bother but instead simply disappeared. There is no reason why I would recommend this place give the high number of other tavernas at the beach.

We had nice 2h by sitting there, food was really good and so was the service. We're surprised to eat that much for this price.

Just tried this place as looking for a lunch place after driving into Malaya. They have a specials menu on the black board and I ordered grilled whole red a snapper. Not cheap at €19 ,but the fish was delicious. Served with sliced potatoes(baked) most ok but a few dried out, side salad but did not look appetizing so I... More

We have been disappointed by this place. Food quality is pretty poor, for prices that are far from being the cheapest around. There are others places along Matala beach... I cannot advise another one, but I would give a chance to the others.

Food wasn't really good nor bad. The view is exciting but I guess all restaurants have the same as long as they are next to the beach . The service was friendly . Food was quickly served. The baked potatoes were cold but the shrimps were hot . My daughter has had fried chicken and thought the skin is like... More
