This was one of the best restaurant experiences we had in a long time. Service - Great. Lorenzo was fantastic telling us every detail and making suggestions as requested Food - Incredible!! The local ingredients were featured. Two of the dishes we had were a...pasta with summer truffle and a filet steak with truffles. They were both incredible. Ambiance - Rustic small restaurant. You need a reservation. Thank you to Lorenzo who made our evening special.More

I couldn't fault a single thing about the meal we had, the staff were lovely, the ambiance was delightful and the food was sublime. I had the truffle pasta from the specials menu and it was the most heavenly thing I have ever eaten! We...then shared the beef cheek which was so incredibly tender and delicious, and then the dark chocolate soufflé to finish which came with a beautifully delicate saffron cream. We're staying in the area for a week and have already booked another meal here for our last night.More

We eat out a lot and this is honestly one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Reasonably priced, good ambiance, good staff, no fuss, great food. We will return.

We travel all over the world, and I am hard-pressed to think about a meal that surpasses the quality of the meal that we had here. Don't let the menu scare you away - it has some non-traditional menu items. That said, it is INCREDIBLE....We had the sliced beef and a pasta dish with a pepper cream. We all agreed the beef was better than any steak that we have had at top steak restaurants in the US. Even better? The price! This place is EXTREMELY REASONABLE for the quality of the food and wine!! If you are even near Barga, this place is worth the drive!!!More

We want to thank Ricardo for an amazing experience. Our hotel didn’t book a reservation and the restaurant was totally booked but Ricardo found us a lovely spot for us to eat that we feel was better. He is a generous & kind person. He...found the time to describe and explain the food, wine, truffles, olive oils etc. Many thanks!More

Scacciaguai is in the centro storico of Barga. A fantastic, family run restaurant with an excellent, interesting menu of traditional and original dishes. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. There are tables indoors and on two outdoor seating areas.

This restaurant is spectacular! Fantastic food, wine, service, location. My husband thought the beef cheeks were divine. They customized my veggie pasta dish - it was delicious! Restaurant also sells hard-to-find local wines at reasonable prices. We highly recommend this gem in beautiful old town...Barga in the mountains of Tuscany.More

The place is great if you’re looking for a date or a special occasion. Service is great and the waitress have us great wine recommendations. We ordered few things out of which the meat was insanely great and the pastas felt a bit too delicate...in taste. It might be that we’re used to more intense spices but 3 out of 4 dishes felt like they could use something more :)More

We visit Barga most years and make sure we dine in Scacciaguai more often than anywhere else. Food is generally traditional but with a modern twist. Meals always start with a complimentary prosecco and wonderful foccacia. For starters we opted for spinach pasta with tomatoes...and mozzarella, and ravioli filled with mushrooms: both perfectly cooked and with interesting sauces. For mains we had slow-cooked pork with a red onion jam, and ombrina, a tasty white fish which I'd never eaten before but would definitely recommend. Desserts are all perfect but we can never resist the chocolate souffles. One is dark with a white chocolate middle, the other white with a coconut centre and raspberry sauce. The wine list is exceptional and we always ask Riccardo (the sommelier) to choose for us: we know that whatever he picks will be excellent, interesting, and great value for money. We keep asking when they'll be opening a restaurant in London but still no plans. Maybe just as well: I think we'd be there every night.More

We visit this restaurant every time we stay in our home nearby. Ricardo in front of house is delightful and a real master with wine. Just ask and he will find you the perfect pairing to your meal. The cooking is fresh and inventive, with...big focus on truffles. Ricardo’s sister can be watched cooking via a video link to the kitchen. We had both always wanted to try the eggs with truffle starter and did so last night. Magic!More

Difficult to say as they have a wide menu and excellent wine list. You could have a two course meal for euro 25 or a five course for euro 100. Both options would be excellent!
