Found this restaurant on trip adviser since it's my first time in this area . The restaurant was classic with that old smell to it but I guess that's what makes it different .The food was very good !!! I had the shrimp cream soup and the grilled octopus. Both dishes were excellent . I would recommend it to anyone... More

There are restaurants that truly are an Institution! With a fine and traditional service you won't find in a restaurant nowadays (special in the news wannabes') along with truly authentic portuguese food this is one of the few restaurants in which I can truly feel at home. Amazing people, exquisite athmosphere and great service.

Thought we would have a miserable last dinner in a soulless hotel close to Porto airport but found this gem. Waiter was very pleased to practice his English and told us everthing was a speciality of the region and the house. I had the best calamari of our holiday with a great selection of vegetables. Looking forward to our next... More

This restaurant is set in an old manor style house with a very traditional décor. It is quite spacious inside and has a room that may be used for more private groups. It has a wide selection of dishes, all of excellent quality. It has a good selection of wines too. Everything is top rated but with top quality comes... More

Wonderful food; excellent but discreet service; beautiful historic building; remarkable value. I'd heard it was good, but didn't expect it to be this good.

We were recommended O Chanquinhos by a very good Portuguese friend, whose trusted palate did not disappoint. We accepted the offer of an aperitif in the quaintest of Ante-rooms, chilled white Port while we looked at the menu. The fish was superb, every piece we had. My less adventurous sons simple steak was also a little piece of heaven on... More

My daughter had been here a couple of times whilst studying at Porto University and took us for dinner. Quite a rustic place, very authentic, atmospheric, charming staff whose English wasn't very good so our daughter used her Portuguese to good effect. We were the only Brits there. Loved it and would definitely return

Description
Description: Since 1974, Chanquinhas in Leca da Palmeira, housed in a former manor house is distinguished by the quality of the food and the wine list quite complete. A sophisticated and refined space where luxury is not, however, synonymous with elitism. A tastefully decorated, concerned with the cult of detail. Old palace, it still keeps some traits reminiscent of the recent past that gives this restaurant a certain aura, decor aside, prevails as the reference for its traditional cuisine, restaurant where the flavors of Portugal are present in each dish!
