we chose to dine one evening because it was convenient - boy! were we glad that we did. The main dining & bar area is one place but set over three levels and seperate areas so it feels intimate. The waiting staff were attentive and careful in how and when they approached us throughout the meal. Our mains were delicious... More

Over a 45 year career, I have stayed in thousands of hotels for both business and leisure. The Potters Heron is truly unique. It’s the only hotel, anywhere in the world, where during a black tie dinner, I had to leave the table and queue at the bar for a refill of my drink. Bearing in mind that I paid... More

The hotel has a great feel, the bar was cosy, the rooms clean, warm and comfortable. We received a friendly welcome from the receptionist and enjoyed a couple of good,... More

Booked for my company's Christmas dinner based on being local and having availability for 20 of us on the only Friday in December we could all make. The evening started a little shakily when the barman wasn't sure how to set up a tab for us and then we were shown to our table which was two tables even though... More

Hotel has a thatched roof and is set in woodland scenery, rooms have balconies or patio doors on ground floor, beautifully clean, rooms are bright and clean, have only eaten breakfast there but this was of good quality, staff are friendly, hospitable and accommodating. We stay at this hotel whenever we visit around the Winchester area and would always book... More

We visited the Potters Heron on a Friday, late afternoon to avoid in mad rush later in the evening. The restaurant & bar area upon arrival look fantastic. Great layout, great lighting and a great feel. We had our 2 young children with us, and the staff were very accommodating. However when the food came, only 3 of the meals... More

I recently visited for the first time in a number of years as I was in the area to see some family and friends and used to go regularly in the 90s. The place has had a major makeover but in a style so curiously dated and cliched that I expected Alan Partridge to appear at any moment. The food... More

The food unfortunately, what little their was of it was very expensive and not particularly well cooked. The duck was return to the kitchen because it was burnt, but was sent back to table by the chef ,who told the waiter to tell...
