this restaurant can be found in a basement, just off the main street in Fornoli. It was quiet when we visited, but we were given a very warm welcome by the owner. She spoke no English but we managed to communicate and she was very...eager to please. Food was very good with nice portions and reasonable prices.More

We were staying just up the road and looking for somewhere to eat in Fornoli. This place is hard to see and you have to descend the stairs. Very much a locals place and language barrier difficult. Nevertheless the menu is translated into English also....We shared 2 starters. The tortellini was very good. Nice thin pizza bases and all eaten!More

Visited twice during our stay in Fornoli. On both occasions we had excellent food -the Tuscan soup, pizzas and deserts were top quality and very good value, as were the deserts and coffee. The owners, particularly Francesca, were lovely - very friendly and accommodating, making...great efforts to ensure we were happy and looked after (despite my limited efforts at Italian.) We will definitely come back when we return. Piacere e grazie mille. A due anni!More

We visited La Lanternina one evening recently with part of our wedding troupe unexpectedly and asked them to host 19 of us. They without hesitation catered for this and ensured we had a big table set up and ready within the basement area. The waitress...was incredibly tentative to our groups needs and high / constant request of alcohol beverages. The food was incredible and we throughly enjoyed a great evening.More

1st visit - lunch before the local Carnevale (Fornoli). The owner offered me a duck ragu with homemade pasta, and oh my, I was hooked. Never bothered to look at the menu. Just ate whatever she suggested! Dolci was great! 2nd visit - pizza -...add the experience of being at the counter watching the pizza being made just a meter away, with a great pizza and I was in heaven! 3rd visit - I'd mentioned liking salsiccia cruda on a previous visit. When I arrived - salsiccia! Purchased just that day for me! Of course there were other bruschetta. (Making reservations pays off!). Never before in my life has a restaurant gone out of its way to do something like that. Then moved onto trippa, and of course wonderful dolci. Wine was great. A cafe, and a little grappa to finish a perfect meal... The owners and family sat at the next table. Another table was close and included me in conversation (I was there alone). Even though I don't speak Italian, we laughed, and truly enjoyed our meals. I'll be back this summer, and will surely be a regular!More

We were staying in Lucca and wanted to try some real Tuscany food. This place is amazing we were made to feel welcome. Our youngest son has an egg allergy and they were brilliant making sure to provide a bowl of pasta for him. The...wine was house wine and lovely. The food was amazing we have been very spoilt this holiday by the hidden gems in Italy. Highly recommended and there special dessert was light and yummyMore

Absolutely love this place. Just got back in town and this is my go to place for pizza, the best in the area by far ( and I’ve tried them all). Francesca is a delight and treats you like family. They also make all their...own pastas, the pasta with cinghiale was fantastic as was the ravioli with ricotta with fresh tomatoes and spinach. You can’t go wrong with this place whether your looking for great pizza or any of their homemade dishesMore

Visited this place on Wednesday night with my Dad. We walked in just after the lovely couple, (who are the owners I think) had opened and explained we just wanted a pizza. Immediately the traditional brick, woodfire pizza oven was lit and rather than being...given menus, the chef just came over and asked us both what we would like as toppings. Thought this was a really nice touch. What was then brought to the table was absolutely superb. Having an Italian father, who now lives back over here, I go to Italy on numerous occasions and can honestly say, this was well within the top 3 I'd ever eaten, if not, the best. Wish I was staying a bit longer so I could try a few of the mains from the menuMore

In just about every way, this is a great find. We have a summer home near Borgo a Mozzano and we were looking for a good place to eat, outside of our favorite pizzeria. Looking on TripAdvisor this seemed like a good bet. We were...happy with everything: quality, variety, service and sincerity. Perhaps strange to say, but sincerity counts a lot in Italy in particular. Genuine food, including seafood on a menu that also highlights Tuscan dishes of meat and game and home made pastas, came together with very reasonable prices--also for wine. I heartily recommend a restaurant that is bound to become one of our regulars. And our standards are pretty high! Buon Appetito.More
