Food very disappointing dried out and tasteless. We`d seen a poster advertising the food and thought it looked delicious. Certainly didn`t match up on any level. However, the caves were well worth the visit and our guide was very informative and amusing.

Popped in for a quick drink. Feeling hungry so had a meat selection. Great meats selection. Then shared a very good cheeseboard. British cheeses. Flat breads made on site by chef who was around and about. Even a nicely cut apple. Always enjoyed coming here.

This is a great little pub and restaurant with a unique decor, which is lovely when the pubs in Essex are all corporate replicas. The food was terrific and the service perfect. You would benefit from booking as the food is all cooked fresh to order and the number of staff is low. Really enjoyed both lunch and dinner here... More

Stuck up staff. Dusty tatty pub. Food was awful left 2/3 plates and shown no concern! Never ever again! Worst afternoon after a long drive!

We missed lunch because we didn't ask for the menu in time, missed dinner by a few minutes because we didn't realise kitchen was closing and didn't buy another beer because we were told that there was time to order it but not drink it. All of this was a little strange as we were just about the only ones... More

We went for dinner after visiting the caves and it has quite a nice atmosphere inside the pub with a gastro pub feel and a menu to match. Ww were very disappointed. My husband ordered wild boar scotch egg priced at around £7. When it came there were two round scotch eggs the size of a quails egg on the... More

The menu is varied and interesting, I stayed here all week on business and ate here every night. It was so good I wanted to return with my husband when I wasn't working. There is a good range of different foods and everything I have had has been excellent quality, its not fast food but worth the wait for it... More

Much better food than expected. Place itself needs a bit of renovation and interior feels like they've stuck plasters over the holes, but food and service made it all worthwhile!
