The whole idea is that the menu is decided on by the croft owners depending on what is available on the day, and all guests are asked to arrive before 7:30 so everyone can be served at the same time. Despite some of our party...More

If you are lucky enough to be on Skye on one of the 3 days a week that the Red Roof is open, you should definitely book ahead. The set menu of 3 courses offers the freshest ingredients from the croft, prepared simply but exquisitely....More

Some businesses transcend the normal experience and they generally are small, often relatively new expressions of genius by one or two individuals. In this case they are three and the collaboration is superb. The other five star reviews will tell you all the details you...More

I've eaten in plenty of fancy / quirky establishments in numerous different countries, and the humble Red Roof has to be in my top three restaurant experiences ever. The staff were warm, unpretentious and knowledgeable. The food was simple but exquisite, made even better in...More

Booked ahead which is essential. Arrived early again this is required and essential. Lovely place and very welcoming. It’s a set menu so you get exactly what’s being cooked. There’s no choice on the night although you can look at what might be on offer...More

Red Skye does not really need another 5 star review, but I can't help myself (and I don't write many). Wonderful on all levels: location, food, staff, pairings, atmosphere. It was magical, delicious, conscientious, beautiful. From exceptional people you get exceptional food and experiences.

We booked an evening meal - not sure what to expect as the menu is set with no choices. Every course was well thought out with home grown and locally sourced ingredients. It was evident that serious consideration had been given to the suppliers of...More

All food is local, we had Kale chrisps, Parsley soup, dry aged beef shin and panna cotta with strawberry sauce made of Skye! strawberrys. It was fantastic.

We love dogs but I’m afraid we can’t have dogs in the restaurant because we have an open kitchen.

Description
We are a small and intimate ‘Croft-to-Table’ restaurant in the shadows of Macleod’s Tables in the Northwest of Skye. In 2018, we are open for dinner from 5th of June until end of October on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We are now taking bookings, just click on Book a Table Our food is inspired by the produce we grow ourselves and sourced from other local crofts. The “croft-to-table” menu is based on what we have gathered from the croft and includes meat from native breeds such as Hebridean and Shetland sheep, home-reared free range chickens and eggs, and typical Highland produce such as potatoes, kale, turnips, brambles, and raspberries. We prepare the produce as we would like to eat it ourselves. We keep it simple, present the food in a relaxed atmosphere and serve dishes that encourage sharing. We serve a seasonal set three course menu (£35) which enables us to serve the very freshest produce from the croft and minimise food waste.
