When trying to book a meal at the restaurant they want deposits for booking a table.. Gave a sense of no trust or value of customer from this restaurant. Is missing the welcoming feeling that a restaurant should have.More

I have since spoken to Adrian about the need for deposits, especially during busy time like Christmas as it’s such a shame to see a table empty due to a no show, when restaurants have to turn lots of bookings away - we, on average,...More

I came here with two friends to celebrate our birthday's. We were seated upstairs and served quickly. The Gin menu was extensive and the waitress was excellent at helping us choose what we wanted. The food menu is a smaller selection - do not expect...More

We were given a warm & friendly welcome & seated by the cosy, flickering fire on a bitterly cold day. I asked for my roast beef to be served well done, & it was perfect. The roast potatoes were delicious, but I would have liked...More

I enjoyed a family birthday celebration meal and the service was excellent. However, although the lamb was beautifully seasoned and cooked the vegetables were not (although I have to say they looked beautiful!). I chose the apple crumble but the apples were very firm. I...More

My husband and I ate here at the weekend as a birthday treat with my sister and fiancé. All was good until the main my husband ordered was bought out. It was duck and proved impossible to cut with a knife. Far too much fat...More

Everything covered in oil, bland, overpriced. Didn't like any of the starter choices, couldn't finish the main (as so oily) and dessert was undercooked dessert apple, not peeled with super sweet crumble sprinkled over with a teaspoon of ice cream. Still feeling queasy writing this...More

TOPES restaurant is a modern British restaurant centrally located in Rochester High Street in Kent and has been awarded two AA rosettes. Chris Small, head chef and co-owner, has created several different menus, including a special set price lunch (L16 for 2 courses and coffee) and mid-week evening menu (3 courses for L25). In addition, there is an a la carte menu for Friday and Sunday evenings and traditional roasts on Sunday. All ingredients are bought in fresh on a daily basis from local suppliers and the menus reflect seasonal produce. The restaurant is set in a 15th, 16th and 17th Century building and many of the original features remain. However, the restaurant has a modern feel to it to reflect the modern style of dishes on offer.
