You don't understand straight away that you have entered into a little temple of gastronomy. It seems like an ordinary "trattoria" also because the effort has been made on food quality rather than the place itself, although the terrace is very nice. But the real pleasure starts once the dishes arrive: delicious and refined "primi", great "secondi" and simple but... More

Our second holiday to Montalcino and we wanted to try a restaurant that we hadn't tried before. Maybe we weren't in the mood for the football on the television in the corner; maybe we wanted something a bit more sophisticated; maybe we got off to a bad start when the menus were just plonked on the table rather than handed... You should order pasta or gnocchi and drink one of fabulous Brunello. Guys this is heaven, I think so :) Take a sit on terrace, and leave the kids running

We had picked this hotel from a guide book because of its location close to Siena and not far from our villa. It is not grand so far as we could tell as we had asked to eat dinner in the garden so did not go inside but the location was good with wonderful views. The service was a little... More

A little bit (like a hundred meters) off the main pedestrian road. Mostly Italians there when me and my girlfriend came after recommendation from our b&b. Sat out on a quiet and comfortable outside porch under the stars. We had pasta for starters and meat dishes for secondi. Rustic and well prepared food. Their own Brunello wine was very enjoyable.... We asked Nicolo at Enoteca di Piazza where we could find the best wild boar in Montalcino, since that was the one local delicacy we had yet to sample. This spot is tucked away in the windy streets of the town, and away from the tourists. We were the only ones there and the waitress spoke very little English; however,... More

The restaurant was the first place we passed walking into Montalcino from our rental. We ate dinner here and were happy with food and service. Pizza good, pasta with wild boar excellent. Less pricey than most, great view from the terrace. Wine cheap and acceptable, not outstanding. Not the finest dining in Montalcino, by any means, but fair value for... More

We were very happy to eat here. We were originally recommended grappolo blu but we couldn't go there as they won't let dogs in and we had our little poodle with us. The menu is varied with really honest prices, also the wines are excellently priced. Everything we ate was just yummy, especially the pici. The service was so friendly... More

We hesitated at the modest entryway, but when we reached the lovely back terrace were charmed by the place, and our hosts turned out to be among the warmest of our trip: the chef/owner also owns once of Montalcino's oldest vineyards and serves her own wines, and cooks terrific Tuscan specialties. Neither she nor our server spoke fluent English but... More

This place is a bit off the main tourist zone down an alley, so I had reasonable hopes. Food was... OK, but nothing to write home about. To drink I ordered a mezzo Rosso della Casa, which anywhere else is understood to mean a half litre. What I got was a bottle about a quarter full of wine... Service was... More
