Called in for an afternoon cup of tea. It’s a café, it is OK, but could do with a bit of a refresh. The downside is the toilets are 35 yards down the road in the community centre and they are a bit grim, obviously...More

We have had lunch here on several occasions and always the food has been excellent. The menu is small but I especially love the ham sandwiches while my partner enjoys the homemade soup. The owners are always very cheerful and welcoming.

when visiting Askrigg, popped in here- as it's also a small village general store- handy for milk, newspapers, bread etc, the frontage looks typical of a Dickensian store, maybe "Sykes" had seduced my head to thinking Dickens. This makes it all more charming and inviting-...More

Thank you for writing a review, the building is indeed Dickensian being built in the late 1800's and originally was a Tea Trader, then a Temperence Hotel as well as other things along the way and now is a General Store, Tea Room and Bed...More

The tearoom is dark, old fashioned, dingy and rather unwelcoming. The woman serving was much the same. She was what I’d call 'adequate' but was not friendly or helpful. I got the impression she was the owner but I may be wrong. The lemon sponge...More

This is a very old building, almost 500 years old and still retains it historic character. If you enjoy living in a historic building this is the place to stay. Alison and Mike were great hosts and they looked after us very well.
