On the positive side they allow dogs and the girl who served us was very nice! Unfortunately the food and atmosphere were awful. There's obviously some kind of dispute with a neighbour which we were made aware of - very uncomfortable - the man in the cafe at the time we were was neither warm or welcoming although he was... Sat outside and we all had a full English which was great. Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely go again when I'm next there.

Despite the website saying the tea room would be open today, we arrived to find it closed. Very disappointed, but found another coffee house in the same street where we had a lovely lunch. Won't be trying the Teapot again.

We visited in early January and the cafe was packed which was good to see. The place itself had old vintage decor which I liked and found added to its charm. We managed to get a table which was good as it was busy, but the servers took ages to come over and give us menus and take our orders.... More

Arrived on a very busy day on our way home from Cornwall. We had our dog with us but they managed to find us a table. The food and drinks we had (in fine China) were lovely. The restaurant was warm and cosy and despite it being so busy we were served in good time. A lovely place to go... More

Lovely tea and cake. We arrived at 12 Noon on Saturday and were made very welcome. We had tea and the triple layer Voctoria sponge. It cost only £6. Brilliant value and service.

We'd walked from Exmouth (lovely) on Sunday and were absolutely gasping for refreshment when we arrived. We were delighted to find excellent coffee (and I am very fussy about coffee) in this traditional little tea-shop. It was busy but we were served quickly by the charming waitress, who also advised us on bus times back to Exmouth. We liked the... More

On our stay in Budleigh Salterton, we were determined to have a Devon cream tea. This cafe I have been to before at a different time of year when visiting the area and had liked this venue. It did not let us down. They even had 'Seasonal scones' slightly spicy with (I think) cranberries 3 of our party of 5... More

This is a tea shop we visit regularly when in the area. The food is good, served on pretty crockery. Broad menu; tasteful background music. Very welcoming owners and staff. Tables outside, quite a sun trap on a good day. Dogs welcome inside - just mention to staff before taking in.

Budleigh Salterton on a Sunday in October is not the most inspiring place to look for a light lunch, but this place seemed to be the most promising. Service was prompt and courteous. We ordered sandwiches, which arrived with a mixed salad. Both the toasted sandwich and the open crab and prawn sandwich were excellent.
