Great place to stop for a snack with good food and service. However, it is a regular stop for coaches and once 3 or more arrive it becomes chaotic.

A great place for a stop off in the journey south towards Wanaka. Quick service, friendly staff, good coffee and clean facilities. This rest stop cafe is perfectly placed on the journey with lots of parking and plenty of seating inside and out and views to the mountains across the road that are a real pleasure.

Good place to stop for a stretch, clean toilets and good coffee. Decent pies. We tried a venison pie.

This quirky cafe/roadhouse has a real Midwest American feel and appears in the middle of nowhere! It's huge and have loads of seating inside and out. We were told to stop here for a pie and weren't disappointed. The chicken & veg and venison pies (Jimmy'a brand) were great. Full of good ingredients and fresh. Self service is odd but... More

Our tour bus stopped for a facilities break and quick bite to eat. Food was okay, reasonably priced. It's decorated with lots of flags and outdoor equipment. Rest rooms were adequate, clean. Nice little gift shop too.

Located about half way between Haast and Wanaka, the café is really in the middle of nowhere as one reviewer has noted. It is a great travel stop that caters to buses and tourists. I had the tasty venison meat pie and my wife the vegetable soup. They were both homemade and delicious. Food was served cafeteria style with rustic... More

Stopped here for a quick lunch It has a variety of meals and snacks .we had the lovely home made soup along with a home made cheese scone- apparently the owner is famed for these- have to say they were delicious. There is a shop selling typical NZ souvenirs - only different ones I saw were recipe books ,but they... More

Stopped here essential for a comfort brreak but found a far more interesting place than we expected. Good selection of food and fast service. The upper edges of the walls around the cafe have been decorated mainly with farming implements

Clearly there are very few places to stop to eat on the very long drive from Franz Joseph glacier to Queenstown. We arrived with a group of 25, behind three other coaches. The road work delays and rain meant all the coaches were behind schedule and we had already missed a coffee stop. On arrival, the queue was ridiculously long,... More

I opted for a very light lunch so I went for a bowl of soup which cost $8.50. Apparently, people complained that the soup was too salty or the other way around. The owner on purpose do not add seasoning. They make the base soup and you add the salt , pepper, etc to your liking. There are bathrooms.
