The primary photo that TripAdvisor shows you for this restaurant is deceptive. It's no longer on the beach--it's on the main road now, a little north of the northern part of Ngapali beach. We were staying on the northern edge of the beach, so it...was a short walk from the hotel. Definitely recommend eating here--tasty food, good value, and pleasant atmosphere. The seafood is fresh. I thought the menu was perhaps more interesting that menus of the beach cafes...More

We decided to eat here one night after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed. The soup was delicious and such a big bowl. We ordered chicken satay and curry which was also delicious. Our server was friendly and welcoming and we sincerely wish...him well in his studies to become a tour guide he will be excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending The Green Umbrella and looking forward to eating there againMore

We stayed 5 nights at Ngapali beach. 4 nights we choose The Green Umbrella Restaurant for our dinner. We tried the one which was rated no 1, but it did not meet our expectations at all. The Green Umbrella is definately no 1 restaurant! What...a kind welcome and service from all the staff. All very clean. The food was always delicious and you can choose your fish fresh from sea and BBQ or steam it. I loved my steamed barracuda! Even though we had lobster one night that was so, so nice. The chef is excellent, the waiters do all they can to make you happy and enjoy the meal. The owners work as hard as anyone of the staff, always with an extra hand on everything and a nice comment. Some nights the restaurant was fully booked and sadly some tourists had to wait to the next evening. You better make a reservation on beforehand. You should choose one of the signature drinks as aperitif and the home made icecream for dessert. And between this you have a great choice of starters and main course that you should add with the best steamed vegetables ever. We loved it so much and for sure we will be back! Thank you guys, love you!More

As always the staff were excellent and although the food on offer was the same as the other restaurants the execution here was better. If you need to pick one place to eat this should be it.

We were a bit surprised to find this restaurant not on the beach, but we weren't disappointed with the food. The prawns and squid we ordered were very good indeed, although maybe just a little small in portions, but still enough food. Recommend.

We were in Ngapali staying nearby at the Bay View Resort and walked the short distance to check out this local restaurant! What a great place - really well run authentic food with delicious seafood, meat and vegetable dishes, all served with very friendly and...helpful service. We had excellent tiger prawn masala and veggie curry the first visit which had to be be the best fresh flavours we’d had in our two weeks so far in Myanmar. We returned a second time and were not disappointed - fabulous green curry and salad and veggie fried rice. And both timers we had complimentary dessert of fried banana and ice cream which was a lovely conclusion to our meal. Good value local Aythaya wine too, which we loved! This used to be a beach restaurant but more development of the area has meant it has moved off the beach to an inland location, but it’s well worth seeking out for its great food and friendly family service with good English speaking staff and management.More

This place has moved away from the beach now - not their own choice unsurprisingly - but is still well worth a visit. It was easily the best seafood that we ate whilst in Ngapali, so good we went back twice. We had grilled barracuda/big...tiger prawns along with steamed rice and salad (cucumber and tomato/avocado). The fish was nice and fresh as it has been everywhere in Ngapali. What stands out is the amazing sweet chilli sauce and the tasty salads. Dessert was given free and was a tasty banana with honey. The staff are lovely and speak good English - one of them even pointed out that there was a give away under the caps of Myanmar beer and so got us a free beer! We let him keep it but they ended up giving us a round of free drinks anyway. Lovely place and we'd go back in a heartbeat.More
