The Phoenix is perhaps one of the best hidden architectural gems in the city of Cincinnati. It's location is not ideal and I think it is why it struggles to stay open under the same management consistently. We ate at what is now called The Presidents Room at 7pm on a Saturday night. The main dining area was nearly empty... More

This is a review of the restaurant at the Phoenix, The President's Room. This is simply one of my favorite places to eat in Cincinnati. It is a wonderful place for a full dinner, but hands down this is the best Happy Hour since my favorite closed in Louisville (RIP St. Charles Exchange). Happy hour is usually from 5-7pm, and... We enjoyed the Cincy Winter Blues Fest at the Phoenix and really enjoyed the beautiful halls, great place to have concerts.

visiting Cinci, and looking for a place for dinner for a group of 6 from three continents. took a chance on The President's Club, mostly because it was open and in walking distance from the convention center. the fact that it was almost empty almost threw us off, assuming that meant it might not be good. but every food item,... Old Cincinnati charmer with a grand marble entryway and grand ballroom. Located in downtown Cincinnati this venue could use a good cleaning and worn carpeting should be replaced. A paint job would be a good idea as well. With all of this being said the wait staff was great and I don't ever remember having such tasty food at a... More

We went to The President's Room at The Phoenix for the first time today and we will certainly be back. We decided to get the 5 course chef's tasting menu and were very glad we did! The first course was a delightful lobster salad with fresh corn and interesting greens. It was accompanied by the house bread- fried roll reminiscent... More

I used to be a regular at the Phoenix, until their business plan caused them to suspend public restaurant service. They are back again and are really trying to achieve their former excellence. Their chef is experimental and he is presenting dishes which are unusual and very good. The meal we tried was similar to charcuterie (chercoute) but the meat... More

Went to a wedding and reception at The Phoenix. It was wonderful. The wedding was lovely, the banquet room was beautiful, the food was excellent, as was the service. The band, which of course the family hired, was awesome, and there was plenty of room for dancing. This was an excellent place for such a happy event. Note: There's a... More

The restaurant is amazing! Moderately upscale. The building is an old Gentleman's club with lots of room. The hospitality and service is "top shelf"! The menu changes seasonally and is limited, but whatever you order is going to be worth the visit. Enjoy a relaxing evening in an environment that is not over crowded.

This is the NEW Phoenix, not the one listed on the terrible reviews. Our dinner in late July was excellent, service was very good, and we have not been shy about recommending it. Going there tomorrow night, actually. The chef, owners, and staff appear to be young and assertive with the menu. In Cincy, no reason not to check out... More

Our History

The Phoenix was built in 1893, and is Cincinnati's finest example of Italian renaissance architecture. It was originally known as The Phoenix Club, the first Jewish Businessmen's organization in this region of the country. The architect was the renowned Samuel Hannaford, best known for his design of Music Hall, and also the architect for other great Cincinnati landmarks such as City Hall, St. George Church in Clifton, and the building that is now The Cincinnatian Hotel.
