Overall, this was the best dinner we have ever had at a Ruby restaurant. The atmosphere was like a Chicago steakhouse. It was lively and busy. The server was very good except for he should have given us the check after dessert and not before....The man clearing the table should wait to clear until all guests are finished eating. The sushi was good, but it was too tall so the bottom fell off when you picked it up with the chopsticks. The dipping bowl was too small to easily dip the sushi in. The steaks were a little too salty, but otherwise good. The Mac and cheese top was too hard to easily cut to serve. The top had kissed the broiler and was hot, but the Mac and cheese was room temp. The creamed spinach was good as was the crab cake. The doughnuts would have been better if they were cooked in the center. They were a little undercooked. The shoe dessert @ $75 was lovely to look at and clever. They never asked us to check our coats which is odd at a restaurant with this price point. The bathrooms should have an open or occupied sign on the door handle since the doors are all shut making it hard to know if they are occupied without knocking on doors or opening them which can be awkward. Overall, it was a pleasant experience .More

You will never be disappointed selecting a Jeff Ruby restaurant they are always excellent. Last night was absolutely amazing as always and the new steakhouse is beautiful. Service was outstanding as well as dinner. Please thank Umit and the other staff for making our evening...so wonderful. I appreciate everything you did to help me give my husband the evening he wanted with the family.More

This was our first time dining at the new location. The decor is over-the-top and garish, and the high ceilings and lack of noise mitigation, resulted in a very loud main dining room. I much prefer the old location with its beautiful bar and more...romantic setting. But, if you’re into a “Roaring 20’s” gangster-type loud atmosphere, the new location is for you. We dined on Wed., Dec. 21 and the restaurant and bar were packed. The servers were attentive, but our table was near the kitchen. Jeff Ruby was circulating in the dining room, and the wait staff was hustling. No less than 6 waiters bumped my chair while racing towards the kitchen. There was plenty of room behind me for them to walk by without bumping my seat, but they were careless. Carts were wheeled out with designer boxes from Chanel and Louis Vuitton. My daughter who works with designer brands on the West Coast instantly noticed the carts. I believe they contained high-end liquor that’s poured tableside as a $300+ shot, and didn’t actually have anything to do with the designer brands (another example of the garish decor). We started with champagne and a seafood tower, which was good but the tower lacked mussels and clams, and the oysters were small. Our next course consisted of 2 sushi rolls and 2 orders of the seared scallops. The food was excellent, but 2 scallops for $28 was on the high side. We ordered a nice bottle of Barolo and asked the waiter to open it and let it breath. However, the Somelier delayed bringing the Barolo and it didn’t have a proper amount of time to breath prior to our steaks arriving. The steaks were excellent, as usual. After dinner, we ordered coffee and dessert. Other than setting our coffee cups down on the seam of the table leaves and spilling, our dessert didn’t disappoint. I wish Jeff Ruby would’ve stopped by our table (he stopped at several near us), but perhaps he noticed my husband’s Yale Ivy League champion football ring (and Jeff played football for Columbia), and decided not to fraternize with a grad from a rival school (LOL).More

Our experience was bad alround, bad atmosphere, bad hostess, bad waiter and mediocre food. We dined with a party of 6, very easy to please people and not one was impressed or even remotely happy with the experience. Ironically, the sushi appetizers were the best...item by far, the steaks were average and not one was cooked properly!!! The server was perhaps the worst…completely inattentive which is not what you would expect for “high end” restaurant and a table that spent $2000.00! Definitely better options out there and for half the price…or less.More

1st time and most likely last time we will eat here. We had reservations booked 2 months out, when we arrived we were told that our table was taken. I asked to speak to a manager and we were moved to a booth. Service was...impeccable,, we had a great service. Food was very disappointing , we sent back 1 steak due to quality issues. I wish we would have sent back both cowboy steaks. Really bat quality to say the least. This is most likely the first and last time I will visit this location. We have never had these issues at Ruby’s other locations.More

Grew up in Cincinnati when this was the original and only Jeff Ruby’s location. Now I have moved away to Michigan but we still try to stop and eat here whenever we return. The steaks are still incredible and I would put Jeff Ruby’s steaks...against any big city steakhouse in the nation. The sides are out of this world too. Don’t miss the potatoes Anna, which are thinly sliced potatoes with a crispy edge. Where else can you get a potato side like this? Service is always good but I thought this time it was a little less than great. Were not greeted by our waiter for at least five minutes after we sat down and the captain never stopped by once during our meal. However, our server was friendly and may have just had too many tables to attend to. This was the first time we had taken our kids (9 and 6) and it worked out pretty well. Yes, they do have a kids menu and all kids entrees are under $15 and include two sides unless your child wants a steak. They do have a kids size steak for $40 (6 oz.) This is a fine dining special experience. You will easily spend $100 per adult here for a dinner including drinks, entree, and tip. Reservations are definitely recommended. Valet parking is available and located on the opposite side of the street from the entrance to the restaurant. Cost is $10 for valet.More

Called three month in advance for a table on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. They sat us in the back next to a large party room. The clearing tray for that room was literally right behind my chair. The scrapping and banging of...the plates was so loud I felt like I was sitting in the kitchen. Not sure why they would think this was ok considering that was a really nice restaurant. I said something to our waitress and she was kind enough to address it with those clearing. Our waitress was also spread a little thin. It took almost for her to come and get our drink order. Food was very good but I have also had better for the price $300 + dollars for two.More

We always love Jeff Ruby Steakhouse. But tonight was extra special. In the world recently, where customer service seems to be a thing of the past, it is alive and real here. Thank you to Michael, the most amazing general manager. Kat, wonderful bartender and...Joseph, who all made our experience so amazing and comfortable. Drove 7 hours from NC to see a college basketball game. Returned to our downtown hotel and walked over to Jeff Ruby’s. Walked in just 15 minutes before closing, with no reservation, and they took us right in! The service was exceptional. Sydney and Anthony...took such good care of us! Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides… oh wow!! Mac and cheese!! You MUST TRY the mac and cheese! We’ve been to a lot of high end steak houses… but this one tops them all! We would drive the 7 hours again just to come back to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, and of course we would ask for Sydney and Anthony again. …And order dessert even if you have to take it home for later!More

Everything about Jeff Ruby's is incredible. Even if they didn't serve food, you'd walk out of this place feeling as if you had the best meal you've ever had. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the service is THAT good. And...don't get me started on the food. Melt in your mouth steak, Potatoes Anna, Freddy Salad...one bite after another the taste simply keeps on giving. If I had one choice of a place to dine for a special (or any) occasion, it's Jeff Ruby's. There's not even a close second choice. Kudos to Michael Whitley and the entire staff for a job well done. Worth every dollar!More

We took a chance on getting a table since there were no reservations available for a busy Friday night. We managed to catch one seat at the bar and one of the bartenders (with the help of accommodating patrons), got everyone to shift so we...could fit in. I'm partial to a cocktail known as a "black Manhattan", which uses a liqueur called Averna. Many places don't carry it. Not only did they have it, the bartender went downstairs to get it. Both of these acts of service (and kindness), set the stage for a lovely meal; great steaks, wonderful sides and a good Malbec to go with it all. It's not cheap but it's not at all out of line for an upscale steakhouse..More
