If you travel to Vicksburg to explore the Civil War Battlefield and Cemetery, don't miss the down home faire at Walnut Hills Restaurant. The fried chicken was fabulous! The sides - greens, fried corn and green beans - complemented wonderfully. We finished with apple crisp...More

If you're having dinner arrive early (especially if it's a Monday evening) as it seems to be a favorite! On Mondays many restaurants are closed. Our wait was at least 30 minutes long, but we sat out on the porch and enjoyed the evening. The...More

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Walnut Hills. My husband thought the fried chicken was some of the best that he had ever eaten. My fish was delicious. I wish that I could remember the waitress's name, but she was excellent and put a...More

Everyone else who arrived after us was given bread but this was not offered to us. Ordered about 18.45, one of the appetisers- a cup of Seafood gumbo cup arrived at 19.35. There was no sign of the other starter, fried pickles, and five minutes...More

Four years ago I came here and had great southern fried chicken. Today I repeated that experience. No grease! Perfectly crisp chicken with just enough breaking to make a beautiful presentation. No pockets of grease and even the bones tasted good. If they have sautéed...More

Everyone is super friendly. Ask for Mr Kenny for your waiter. He has been there 20 years. The food was great, wide variety on the menu. Negative is that we were to full for the desert. The chicken was great as well as the shrimp...More

Very good service in an old home. Southern style food was ok. The pimento cheese appetizer was the best thing we tried. It's better than the chains and worth driving a few minutes for a lunch break. Desserts looked great but diets took control n

We brought 9 folks for the round table that cost $22 per person. I thought the round table was all you could eat? We were told that no more chicken could be brought out after we had two pieces and some only had two wings. Is it all you can eat?

We didn't get the round table offering but your experience doesn't sound right to me. I would have issued a complaint with management for sure.

No, I've always know it to be Walnut Hills unless that's a slang nickname.
