I've been coming to Fort Rutger Market for......35 years now. It is always brimming with delicious (ono, in Hawaiian) fresh food, sashimi, poke in about four different styles, and tons of Poi and Lau Lau. (If you get there early enough!) My last trip this last week did not disappoint. I also ate at some fancy restaurants, and for the... More

This little market has great poke. They will let you mix two kinds as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Okay if you are going to visit the KCC Saturday market, I would highly recommend that you go to Ruger Market. It is in somewhat of a strange location in that everything around it is residential. We always pick up ahi shoyu poke with limu. Always fresh and usually they make it while you are waiting. The tako poke is... More

I rate Fort Ruger Market a 4.5 star. It's my favorite place to come for fresh island poke. Poke is fresh ahi cut into cubes and Ft Ruger makes it right in front of you. They also specialize in Hawaiian food and have some really good Filipino food. Ruger is known for their boiled peanuts too. They use the big... More

I can't believe I forgot to review this little market, which is just a few blocks from where I lived for a school term. When I moved into my ohana, really the only thing I asked my landlord was where was the best place to get poke nearby. He said Ft. Ruger, and I kind of was like ewww? because... More

This place is a gotta stop place for local grinds. All the offerings are seasoned to the local palate, so you can expect a lot of shoyu and sugar, chili pepper and rice.

How times have changed I remeber back in da day that Ruger Market had killer Hawaiian food. Today we decided to have lunch there. What a DISAPPOINTMENT it was! I was going to get their Hawaiian Plate with lau lau and the works thinking it was homemade kine. Lucky I asked first. The lady said that her boss gets it... More

If you like poke, chopped raw fish with local ingredients, this is the place for you. You can get it on the way down from a Diamond Head hike as it is a 5 minute walk from the Diamond head chapel by the city bus stop.

Great little market, but went from TripAdvisor raves about the Poke. Had the Ahi Poke with onions and Shoyu sauce. Also got some Chicharonnes just because I wanted to try them. Friendly staff explained the different Poke available. Had other food too.

Exterior is your basic old school local market, inside, fresh food counter that is nothing special to look at, food was wonderful, as authentic as it comes to Hawaiian cuisine. I had the daily special, luau pork and poke in a bowl of rice...........
