Walked here from Bannisters Wharf. They sponsored a "Paint Party" on Sundays. Even with a lot of snow, the bar was crowded. A lot of locals happy to give advice on where to eat and how to get around. The paint party was held in what looks like a great outdoor patio in the nicer weather. Might check it out... More

A great bar! Just sat and had a beer and a burger! Service was great and the people were great! It was nice to just sit and chat with those around me! Burger was great and a very laid back attitude!

This pub was a bit deceiving. We walked by several times and saw NO ONE inside. Not usually a good sign After trying to get into several places and being told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour we decided to take a chance. The entrance is on the left hand side of the building, once we went... More

Great, friendly service. Free parking. Garlic fries were good. Clean. Nothing spectacular, but we wanted a place to watch football and this is pretty much it in Newport!

Sat at the bar on a Saturday night while in town for vacation. My husband ordered loaded fries which were very fresh and delicious. I had a chili soup which was homemade and hearty. Would definitely visit here again. Seems best for younger crowd.

Great sports bar for sitting inside or out. Pool tables, big bar area to sit around or your can at tables away from the counter. Bartenders were fun and friendly. Nice pours and fun environment.

Visiting the port and decided to dock at O'Brien's for eats and brew. It's a perfect day to enjoy lunch (with few patrons in attendance). Food is good; the spirits match. We'll try the night life on a weekend to really get a flavor of Newport.

Looking for somewhere for food and a drink so tried O'briens. Not disappointed, good food - try the curry and cottage pie - and a good selection of ales

Description
O'Brien's Pub is located in the fifth ward district of Newport RI, and has been operated continuously since 1945. Our current operation was established in 1979 and has continued to be a local favorite among Newport residents and tourists alike. The outdoor garden patio has grown to seat over 200 customers and is an enjoyable place to meet for cocktails and to sit for lunch or dinner. Children are typically kept busy by our play fish fountain located in the center of the patio. O'Brien's Pub has a large menu which features daily appetizers, lunch, and dinner specials. We have variety of imported and domestic beer, as well as frozen drink and coffee specialties. O'Brien's Pub is open 364 days a year and host large functions and special parties. In winter months, the gas stove adds warmth and coziness to the pub. During day time hours video games, pool tables, and our five TV's offer entertainment to all ages.
