Incredible ambiance, windows overlooking the grass and the ocean. It was a warm sunny day, so being seated right next to the windows was not only comfortable, but scenic. Great service. Even though gluten free was not on the menu it is offered, to my delight! Delicious food, wonderfully prepared, and the theme fit in perfectly after seeing the Holiday... More

When you get to the end of Cliff Walk, you will see a lovely hotel, The Chanler, perched over an outstanding view. It was November and we think the lunch menu is the same as you get in season at their outdoor restaurant. Lobster Roll was overflowing with sweet lobster. Oysters were from Ct and very fresh. Wedge salad with... More

We tried this out during restaurant week in Newport. The building and the decoration are very classic and elegant. Food was imaginative and excellent and service was attentive. It's definitely upscale and the prices reflect that.

My husband and I were walking along the Cliff Walk and found this restaurant in October of 2016. What a treasure of a find. Since it was the end of October, the patio area had been closed. We did not have a reservation and were seated right away by the window and we could see the water and the Cliff... More

Ok...so this venue is spectacular - very quaint Newport mansion feel with an Amazing view! I wish I could give the food the same review...it was "good" but not great. I would say 3.4 star food at 5 star prices. We actually went for restaurant week - and our bill was $300 + for 3 ppl because we got some... More

Our meal was perfect, the service, George our waiter in particular was incredible. If you love fine food in an over the top finely furnished Inn, you must go to the Spiced Pear.

We went there in 2015 for our anniversary dinner, the atmosphere was nice, food was ok, waiter was professional. So I brought my families for vacation in Newport this year, and having lunch this time. I sent back my salad to kitchen because some of my lettuce was rotten with black slime on it. But the waiter sent it back... More

After an invigorating and virtuous hike on Cliff Walk during a brisk, squally day today, we decided to treat ourselves to a restorative and well-earned luncheon. A very elegant, small restaurant (part of the attractive Chanler Inn), the Spiced Pear serves a leisurely meal with French underpinnings. The service, while good overall, was perhaps a little too leisurely at times,... More

My husband and I had drinks at the bar and dinner in the main dining room. The drinks were fantastic and dinner was delicious. The best lobster bisque I've ever had. We loved the ambiance of the bar scene.

The Spiced Pear was a beautiful place with a great ambiance. Food was ok but the halibut had no taste. Expensive and not impressive. Would not return.
