Whether for lunch or dinner, the black Pearl never disappoints. Centrally located, dark and cozy, noisy and crowded and has that festive feel to it. We always return for more.

We had a great meal. It was a little confusing with two different dining rooms with completely different menus. Our meal was very tasty, but a bit over priced considering you do not get soup or salad with the meal. Next time we will sit on the "cheaper" side and hopefully get a better value. Please don't get me wrong,... More

Our crowd was craving good "chowdah" on a cold and windy day.....and we knew where to get it. Whenever in Newport, I have to get a chowder fix at the Black Pearl. I love the atmosphere of this place. It is generally packed and most certainly was on the day we visited over New Year weekend. There are the usual... More

People love coming here for the ambience and location. The food here is good ... very good. The staff very welcoming and friendly. The lobster rolls and salads are always consistent, but this is our spot in the tavern for burgers and beer. (The French fries are also very good). My one friend doesn't eat meat and had the mussels... More

Three for a late lunch was delightful. 1:30pm on the fFriday after Christmas, the place was very full. But only a 15 minute wait, a rustic table in the bar area. Service was good, not great, but satisfying. I had the chowder, it was good, not necessarily THE best, another had the tomato basil bisque deemed very good. The lobster... More

We always stop in at The Pearl when we stay in Newport over Christmas Week, and are never disappointed . The Black Pearl Chowder is perfect - creamy and tasty. This year we made several trips- and had lunch in the tavern, chowder at the bar and dinner in the dining room - and it was all delicious !

I had some delicious oysters, clam chowder and a gin and tonic at the bar, with a friendly (but not too friendly) bartender.

We stopped in for s quick lunch on Christmas Eve. The place was packed. We did get a real nice table. The bowl of Clam Chowder I had was fantastic. Light cream mixed in a very tasty broth, loaded with clams. Great place. The staff was friendly and courteous. The whole experience was very positive.

The Black Pearl is worth a day trip just for its signature New England Clam Chowder. The best in the United States, bar none. Creamy, clams are succulent, tender, and plentiful. Potatoes and clams in EVERY spoonful, even the last. You only need to get there, now!!

This place is my go to place when having lunch in Newport and I am never disappointed with their meals. This time I had their famous clam chowder for lunch and a grilled swordfish sandwich.
