i have eaten here for over 2 decades. menu with recent new ownership has more variety. it is a solid German-inspired menu, with some variations. good variety of beer, good wine list. service yesterday was a bit disjoint, for reasons that I don't understand, as it was not overly busy. however, food still has its appeal, delicious in good quantity.... Thanks for your nice review. I don't know why service seemed dis jointed on your visit. Through the decades, it seems that sometimes when business is slow service quality falls off a bit. I will discuss this with the dining room management. I am glad that the food was good and the staff friendly. i hope in the near future... More

Romantic ambiance Personal attention. Friendly staff. Good food. And the decoration all around brings you into that old ambiance.

We appreciate your nice review. The restaurant still has the atmosphere that it had when opened in 1935. Although many changes have taken place, we still try to pay personal attention to our guests. See you on Fort Street! More

From Rochester NY We found this place in the fall while visiting family from Hartford and returned for another visit Saturday. Very authentic and historical with great food and friendly atmosphere. It is really neat just to look at the decor and items on display and is just like the restaurants we have visited in Germany. A welcome treat compared... More

Thanks for your kind words. My wife is from Batavia-- I know how long the trek down Rt. 90 seems. Most of our German dishes are recipes from my Dad who came to the USA from Germany in 1934. The menus at chain restaurants get boring after a while. Thanks Again! We hope to see y0u on Fort Street. More

Thanks for taking the time to share your impressions. Our restaurant is unique. We have lots of guests heading down Rt. 91 that have a meal on their interstate sojourn. The location is quite convenient to folks traveling the highway. We can be seen from the road, if one looks quickly. Our free valet makes parking a simple process. We... More

We stopped for dinner on the way back from skiing. It is clear that this is a local place with lots of regulars. Parking is a challenge--but they have valet parking if you can't find a place on the street. Service is good and the food is fine. But the atmosphere is really interesting.

Moved out of state and recently took my wife there, fearing it would not be the same place I had bragged about, and it was all that and more thanks to our waiter Corey ( sp ?) offering wonderful suggestions on beer and dinner and we even got a tour of this old wonderful establishment. We will be back soon... More

I absolutely love going to the Student Prince when I am in town. The German cuisine is simply awesome and so is the beer (hefe weizen). The atmosphere is authentic and the staff is terrific. Valet parking is a great service provided by the restaurant.
