Have enjoyed tapas here for years -- delicious care and special location on Canyon Road. While back in town I saw that they were having a flamenco dinner and I am so glad I made a reservation. As a line diner I had the best seat at the show, too!

Just stopped by for a break and drinks as we make our way up Canyon Road's spectacular art galleries. I got the Sangria and it was excellent. Get the carafe, it a better deal. The beer is good too. Weather permitting, sit outside. The food looked good. Service was attentive. A good stop!

I am sure the music helps, given some of the reviews. All we ate was very good, nothing exceptional, but well executed. The tables squashed against the wall are a bit awkward, and when we went on a Monday there was no music. The music is apparently variable as we found out from asking... from none to a rock night... We hosted a special birthday with family and friends at beautiful El Farol. The tapas courses, accompanied by special margaritas, wines, and select beers were done perfectly!. The private room was adorned with lovely linens, beautiful candles, and incredibly beautiful wall murals. The food was presented with an acute attention to detail, with the flavors and seasonings just right. The... More

Tuesday night Blues Jam is a lot of fun! You have house band and other professional musicians sitting in playing great dance music from the 60-70's. Lots of locals come out for the fun. Call Monica and make a reservation for a bar table. Who knows who you'll see there: The cast from Longmire, Lou Diamond Phillips, Billy Gibbons from... More

We called the day before and was able to get into the Saturday flamenco show (barely) they first put us two rooms back and said we could go stand in the doorway when it started. A few minutes later our hostess said they had a table of six reservation not show. We got upgraded to the main dining. We were... More

The restaurant is perfectly located amidst the galleries and has a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy the people walking by. I found the food to be very good, not great, but very good and the atmosphere was quite unexpected; it looked like it hadn't been updated or changed in many many years. Although, I heard it recently changed hands,... More

My girlfriends and I have eaten at El Farol on a number of occasions and were excited to go there again during a getaway trip to Santa Fe. The food was very good; we started out with a few Tapas and then shared 3 entrees which was plenty of food. It wasn't very crowded (there was a Flamenco show later... More

We went to El Farol for an anniversary dinner. It was a nice evening and we enjoyed the show. However calling our waiter lackluster would be a compliment. He did the bare minimum and didn't do that very well. So what should have been a fabulous celebration was just a pleasant night out. There are too many other great restaurants... More

A great place for sitting outside watching the world go by and having some tapas. My wife and I sat inside the last time we visited and although the food was good I missed the outdoor experience. A lot of their tapas are very good. the baked avocado, the mussels and ceviche were just fine. We went nuts on desserts... More
