Needing a breakfast place El Comal was a short walk from the Fairfield hotel next door. So glad that we ate here. This is definitely a local joint because all the locals were there. The restaurant is observing COVID restrictions very well. All employees with...masks and gloves. Tables properly socially distanced. And breakfast was amazing!!! Hubby had French toast which he said was very yummy. Friend had pancakes that were really good. I had the Papa Rancheros which was amazing!!! Potatoes and green chili covered with cheese and two eggs however you want them and with refried beans and choice of tortilla or sopapilla. I went with the sopapilla and it was the best. Everything was so good. The service was friendly and attentive to our needs. Whenever we're back in Santa Fe this will be on our list of stops.More
We arrived in Santa Fe on a Tuesday night and wanted Mexican food, but didn't want to drive very far from the motel. Chili Rellenos are one of my favorites and they had a great review, so we decided to phone an order and pick...up. Their sign isn't large and there is another Mexican restaurant closer to the road so it was a bit confusing to find. My husband got a Chimichanga with red sauce and I got the Relleno with green sauce. Both came with rice & beans and there was so much food that I couldn't eat it all in spite of how good it was. They included 2 fried pastries but we were so stuffed we couldn't even try them. This has to be the best Mexican food we've ever had and if we lived in Santa Fe we would be regulars.More
Located in a strip mall, you could very easily miss this restaurant. It was convenient for us since we were staying in the RV Park across the street. It is no frills dining with little ambiance....but you are here for the food ...right?
Mexican cuisine comes in different forms. El Comal is clearly Norteno, with dark red chile atop excellent tamales. The other plates looked equally good. There's not much atmosphere (think strip mall), but the food is good and reasonably priced.
I had the enchilada combo plate. It was good although the red sauce (I had half green and half red) was more bland than I expected and it almost tasted burnt. I had a sangria and it was in a large glass with mostly ice...and almost took two hands to pick it up. I was staying nearby and the hotel recommended it.. The beans were a little bland as well. The chips and salsa were good.More
Very good New Mexican style food. A small place, atmosphere was great. The sops were auesome, my wife loved the stuffed ones.
What a hidden jem where the locals come for some amazing authentic southwestern Mexican American food. I have not seen Migas on the menu anywhere I have went so far. They are amazing especially adding meat to the dish (normally it's more of a vegetarian...dish with eggs). The sopaipilla's are a must to have they are huge airy and very tasty. The tortillas are hand made too so you cannot go wrong! Small modest and cozy place that's been here for years.More
Small “hole in the wall restaurant, but wonderful food. I had the combination plate-Which was excellent!, “Combinacion Plate”, pork tamale, cheese enchilada, refried beans, rice & red sauce. Great meal and generous portion! Also, enjoyed a large frosted goblet of fruity sweet and delicious sangria!
Ate here on my first night in Santa Fe. Wish I had gone back again instead of trying other nearby Mexican restaurants that offered a daily special. El Camal isn’t fancy, but it was full of locals (always a good sign of authenticity), the food...was delicious, and the service was attentive and genuine.More
