I was looking for a good spot to eat when passing thru Santa Fe. There are so many high priced touristy spots in this town...but this is not one of them. This is a locals place so the prices were reasonable and they have some of the best New Mexican food I've had. There was no long wait to get... More

Located beyond the Plaza area. Recommended by a local. Wonderful N Mexico food, local musicians performing the evening we visited (Thursday). Very reasonably priced.

We went on a Sunday evening. There was a man singing and playing guitar. He was nice to listen to, and the food was pretty good. The prices were great.

Yummy, inexpensive, authentic, and was very close to my hotel! The only complaint I had was there margarita - not the best I've ever had. The food was wonderful though!

The sopapillas were excellent, some of the best in Santa Fe. My chalupas were very good with large chunks of good chicken in them. The chile was HOT but really good and it was on the side so I could measure how much I wanted. The rice was, well it was rice. My wife reported that her combination piqueno was... More

The tamales were plenty good and the meal had postale (hominy) which you don't see too often. The rice and beans were ok. Lunch runs about $7-$8, or more if you want. The service was ok.

First, there is a warning sign re the heat of their chilies as you walk in - take note! Food was good (though sauces were hotter than anywhere else we ate this week). Entrees include a free sopapilla which is a nice extra. Beer, soft drinks, horchata, etc - no hard alcohol listed. Service was good and prices were quite... More

We were tired and looking for a little local place to grab a quick dinner after a full day of sightseeing. Cafe Castro fit the bill. The food was good, the service was good and the prices were very reasonable. The mariachi band added a nice touch.

Cafe Castro was recommended to us from the motel owners where we stayed in Tucumcari. They said this restaurant had the best New Mexican food around. And they were right. Four of us went in for dinner and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. And we especially enjoyed the sopapillas that came with the meal. The food was fast,... More

The staff in this family run restaurant were kind and helpful. If we had any questions about the menu they made sure to explain. They asked if we had allergies or food concerns that they needed to know about before preparing our meals. The food came out hot and it did not take to long before we were served. The... More
