We had planned to be here for a light lunch and then indulge ourselves with some treats from the bakery side. Unfortunately, we didn’t spend nearly as much time in the market as we had planned, so we were done too soon to have lunch....But, we carried on with the second part of the plan, and shopped for some sweets to take with us. The unfortunate part of the baked goods display is that nothing is labeled or marked as to what it is. The attendant was somewhat helpful, but she seemed to think we should recognize everything. We did make a few choices, and carried on with our day, treats in hand. They were very reasonably priced, a bit to our surprise, considering the venue. When we finally indulged ourselves and ate the treats, it was a bit disappointing. They were all very good, mind you, and certainly satisfied our sweets craving, but not quite as outstanding quality as we had anticipated. They could have come from any neighbourhood bakery, so it was a bit of a letdown.More

Open 24 hours—a tradition in SA. Be sure to walk throughout the restaurant to see the amazing mural of history. Food and service are wonderful—the coffee is great—but some to take home. The marketplace is so much fun to shop.

This restaurant was so fun from the moment we entered the door. My husband and I went for our anniversary. We were serenaded by mariachi for $10. But absolutely worth it for the experience alone. The food was excellent and service was great. Price is...very reasonableMore

Mi Tierra is recommended by locals so we tried it for lunch. The food was tasteless and delivered sporadically to each person in our party of 5. This is a great spot to check out as a tourist attraction- colorful and there are mariachis -...but the food disappoints. My chalupas were dry and tasteless, the lunch special chicken was below average and the fish tacos lacked flavor. Dare I say this was equal to fast food? Very disappointing.More

We stopped in for lunch as we have been coming here for decades. We were told a 30 minute wait so go to the bar. Our table became available after 30 minutes (half the restaurant was open). This happened last time as well. Server came...and took our order. Appetizer came and was cold. Didn't say anything. Then, my order came and was wrong. My order came right away. And, of course, it was cold. Server was no where in sight so after 10-15 minutes I had to flag down someone. The service and food has always been consistent. So disappointing...More

Fresh authentic food with an authentic ambiance. Very large restaurant with lots of flair and color. The food was fresh with large portions. The raspberry frozen margarita was delicious. We did not have room for dessert but the bakery items looked fabulous. Best Mexican food...I have enjoyed.More

It's been about 8 years since I reviewed this restaurant so I thought that I would do it again after this weeks' visit. The food is delicious as usual and it sure hits the spot! They could really spring for a larger bowl for the...chips. The bowl is so small that the chips are falling over and out on the table. It would also be nice to have a bowl of salsa for each person. No one likes to share with other people at the table. Unfortunately, the drinks are weak and watered down. Although it can get crowded and noisy at times, it never fails to disappoint me. The bakery is still amazing but some of the Mexican pastries "LOOK" pretty but taste terrible. We got several items but the pralines were the best by far. The coconut candy went in the trash.More

This family run restaurant/ bakery is an explosion of Mexican American culture with its wall murals, fiesta flags and shrines to friends and generations past. The location is adjacent to the Mexican Public Market and a safe 15 minute walk from downtown Riverwalk hotels. The...food was excellent and a good value. Local police eat here. Breakfast maybe accompanied by several 80 plus year old guitarist. Don’t miss ordering a few take out treats from the extensive bakery. The coconut and praline confections were over the top.More

This is just outside of the Mexican market and has good food. the costumes of the wait staff are fun as is the decor. The food is standard Texmex, not really outstanding; the margaritas are fair. Big portions. It came highly recommended, and we would...recommend, but it will not be the best Texmex food you've very had.More

We had heard about this from other friends. My only regret is that we missed breakfast. Other people were raving about how good it was. I opted for a slow cooked pork dish that was out of this world. It was seasoned perfectly, and very...tender. The food the other people got was very tasty, and prepared well. The bakery had a great selection of breads and desserts. We also spent a good bit of time in the market adjacent to the restaurant.More

This is the only place I eat at when I am in San Antone - absolutely the BEST authentic Mexican food. The service is exceptional, food to die for, atmosphere festive, walk around troubadours are wonderful. Our waiter Mario has been 21 years and is...the BEST waiter I have ever had anywhere. Couldn't have loved our trip more. Of course I had to buy some pralines and cookies on the way out!More

My first visit in San Antonio, came with a friend while in business. Close by so we walked to it from my hotel in the river walk. Huge restaurant, pretty good Mexican, and a walkthrough of the restaurant is worth it to see the pictures...and such. Folks say it’s top 10 for Texas, but I am not sure on that for Tex-mex.More

Mi Tierra has everything you'd want in an authentic Mexican from the traditionally dressed wait staff to the roving guitar players who take request (Besame Mucho), to of course the reasonably priced and fantistic food. A true Mexican experience.

We had our daughter’s Rehearsal Dinner at Mi Tierra in the Patio Room, which is a Private room for up to 50 guests. From the moment we arrived, and throughout the evening, we had impeccable service from the staff. The food was delicious and the...mariachi band kept the atmosphere festive and fun. What an incredible experience we had! I highly recommend Mi Tierra for a special event. Thank you for a wonderful time!More
