Like Rudy’s as a quick stop BBQ alternative. This is not Franklins or the Iron Works but it is consistently good BBQ.

The food is so so good but at $25 per decent sized plate...I don't know. Also, two of the times I visited the Westover location, the person taking the order was rude and acted like they were doing me a favor taking my order. I'm...not exaggerating. I thought I was taking crazy pills. I'm tempted to visit every once in a while but I'm quickly reminded why I'll probably never go back. Beget off finding something just as good elsewhere. Bon appetite.More
I’ve been eating and cooking barbecue for decades, grew up working in numerous BBQ restaurants including one of the early dickies in Dallas. Rudy’s is phenomenal, I currently live in Seattle and literally would fly to Austin just to eat this barbecue. Particularly their ribs...with an amazing pepper flavor.More
This is the first time in years that I ate at a Rudy’s. It’s as good as I remember. Brisket is juicy and falls apart. Also ordered the creamed corn, cole slaw and beans. Beans were runny but had a good flavor. Service was great!...Was only disappointed that there’s no fried okra.More
Had a variety of things, the ribs were excellent. The beef sandwich very good. They also had baked beans and I think it was Mexican chili which was excellent. Hope they r3cycle cause they serve soda and beers in bottles. Overall I would recommend it.
Excellent food. Turkey was great, Brisket had nice flavor. Cream corn good. Peach Cobbler best I have ever had! Only thing that was missing flavor was the beans.
Every time we are in Leon Springs, its a must stop at Rudys! The best brisket, chicken, creamed corn, and potato salad all sold by the pound. Served on butcher paper, in a plastic crate, with sliced bread. Two types of BBQ sauce, grab a...cold drink and its heaven! You can eat inside family style on picnic tables or outside on picnic tables. There is even a country store where you can bring home some of that sauce!!More
Came here with co-workers for dinner… I definitely loved the vibe and the smell in the air was incredible! They have EXCELLENT customer service and offer discounts to first responders and military, which is GREAT! They offer many styles of proteins and I think we...ordered some of each to try. Sides were decent, not spectacular. Their sauce was outstanding! Love stewed down tomato-based BBQ sauces like this and with the black pepper in it, the flavor was slightly tangy too! We got there a late in the day, like an hour before closing and while they had a decent amount of meat left, it was all a little dry by then. The brisket lacked flavor from any rub that might have been on it, same with the chicken. The sausage was great and the turkey was moist and nicely done too. Spare ribs were also slightly on the bland side, but had some fair smoke to them. I definitely want to return for lunch as I’m sure this place has some great BBQ and I’d like to try it when it’s fresher. As for seating – they’ve got plenty! Inside and outside seating. They have really decent staff working there and the prices aren’t too high, like you might find downtown. I’d definitely return!More
I went today, bought ONLY 2 ribs for $10.00. One rib was overcooked and dry, the other rib was ok. Rudy's is overpriced. It's also confusing to order. Not like other places. Would not go back.
You can’t beat the meat at this place. Prices are getting a bit carried away for a bbq joint but it is good. They need some fly control. We we’re constantly bombarded by flies while eating in the store. Very friendly staff. I would eat...there again despite the price and flies. The meat is just that good!More
I haven't been here in about 18 months and coming back again it remains a great BBQ place, casual with great service & great BBQ. They still give you a generous amount of brisket, sides & a pile of bread with your meal.
Definitely oak smoked BBQ. Stacks of oak waiting to be placed for the pit along with the aroma of smoke. VERY casual. Line up to order your sides and meat by the pound, smoked brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken (1/2 or whole) etc. I got 4...baby back ribs (the largest baby back ribs I have ever eaten. The brisket was delicious but had to eat it quickly bc it dries out fast. The ribs have a dry rub with ground pepper being pretty predominant. The sides of cream corn (house speciality), potato salad, and coleslaw were outstanding. Peach Cobbler pie was the dessert option for the day we were there. You can buy bottled drinks on ice or go into the store and buy a fountain drink. There is seating inside the store with red/white checkered table clothes and folding chairs or outside on picnic tables. Everything is do it yourself, get your own plastic silverware from a dispenser, paper towels from a holder like you have in a bathroom, trays for your food to go on that you carry to your table of choice. You then clean up your area and go home full. Parking is right off the road and you will have to back up onto the road which can be tricky. Single sides $2.40-$3.40 (or at least ours did), peach cobbler $3.90, ribs are $20.50 a pound, brisket $19.20 a pound, sausage link $5.30. Two of us ate lunch for $52.75. Nice for a tourist but would think twice before doing this often. Glad we stopped in for some good TX BBQ!!!More
Their marquee says the are the worst barbecue in San Antonio. They are not. They have brisket, chicken and other dinners.
Meat was OK, sauce was OK, the method of service is a little strange. You order your sides, then your meat which is cut, wrapped and put in a bag with about 7-8 slices of bread. Then you pay and walk over to another building...to get your drink and sit down. Interesting and adequate if you're looking for barbecue but probably wouldn't go back.More
We were not impressed. The food is no where near what you pay for it. The ribs were tough. Pinto beans were so bland. Save your money definitely not worth it. The meat had no bbq flavor to write home about.
