If you love $11 margaritas and $12 bean and cheese nachos then you have found the place! La Fogata started off as a BYOB patio taco joint,... decent, reasonable and cheerful. It has evolved into an overblown, overpriced and dreary dining expierence. That margarita was...More

The food and margaritas are good. They may have as large a list of margaritas as they do food or enchiladas! They can accommodate a large group with advance planning and the patio was very pleasant in the evening and a bit quieter than inside....More

La Fogata just does Tex-Mex right. Another reviewer mentioned that lunch was not as good as dinner, but I can't agree. (That reviewer did mention that it was a work day which meant no Margarita and that make be the difference. Well, this last trip...More

I have been eating here since the 1990's but recently went for lunch for the first time. Maybe it's not being able to fully enjoy the margaritas since we were returning to work but I think it is a better dinner than lunch spot. The...More

The atmosphere at this place is kind of cool. We sat in the outdoor dining area which felt kind of cheap. The furniture was wobbly and uncomfortable. But ok, even with that, it was a fun atmosphere. Then I got the menu. Is this Mexican...More

First ate at this restaurant 30+ years ago. Always make a point of returning when in San Antonio (not often enough)! Love the ambiance, the salsa and the margaritas. Entrees were so so this time but willing to overlook.

Description
Founded in 1978, we have been fire-roasting our famous salsa and mixing our legendary margaritas for 35 years, serving an average of 450 guests daily—that’s right, 6,000 (or more) happy diners enjoy the restaurant each week. That’s an amazing feat for a San Antonio Mexican restaurant that started as little more than a taco stand in a former neighborhood Dairy Queen. Our staff is dedicated to your fun! The La Fogata team includes staff members who have been on the serving line since 1978. The same cook has been creating the restaurant’s award-winning salsa for 24 years. In an industry known for its high turnover, even the wait staff includes long-time La Fogata veterans, so Dwight is surrounded by a dedicated team who knows the business and shares his passion for the restaurant.
