Food was average. Service was deplorable. Expected a much better experience. Staff argued and made scenes in front of patrons. We will not make a second visit.

This was our second visit to the Fig Tree. This time we had the special, Beef Wellington. It was delicious, with fresh asparagus and creamy mashed potatoes. Our waitress, Jeanette, was efficient and delightful. We will definitely be returning!

We wandered up and down the Riverwalk looking for a restaurant that had a bit of a different menu. This one had a great variety. We had duck and it was wonderful, the black rice and the salad was delicious. The tables outside were positioned so you could view the river while dining. There were little white lights in the... What an extraordinary place, unbelievable, fantastic food, incredible service, wine list to die for - this is a place for those that love fine food, fine wine, and people who care about you and your comfort and joy for the evening. This is one of the single best restaurants we have ever been to - you must must go here... More

We dined at the Fig Tree Restaurant on Wednesday, September 21st in the third floor private dining room. The five-course meal was fantastic and enjoyed by our group. The steaks and drum were particularly tasty. Also, the service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I would return to Fig Tree in a heartbeat. We love fine dining and it is certainly what they deliver. Servers, food and atmosphere were top notch. One note to make, we had reserved a table outside. Upon arrival, asked if there was seating inside as it was still quite "warm" outside. Staff remarked that they could seat us inside... More

We stopped by for a glass of wine and appetizer before the show La Vallita Arneson Theater. The restaurant has a quaint feel with different levels overlooking the Riverwalk. We had the lump crab cake, wild sauteed mushrooms and asparagus. All tasted fresh and flavorful. The wine list was ample. The wait staff was knowledgeable. We overall had a fine... More

Fantastic dining experience! Service was attentive without overly prying. The beef wellington and medallions were both amazing, some of the most tender steak we have had in awhile.

Food was awful. Ordered the ribeye and beef Wellington. The ribeye was worse then the quality that you would order at a run down steak place. The beef Wellington is going to my dog. The cost of the dinner was way too expensive for what was provided. Don't waste your money

Found this gem while visiting for a conference. Sat on the patio overlooking the river walk. Great service and food. The fish was cooked perfectly.

Description
Whether dining in the cozy interior or on the outdoor villa-style terrace overlooking the San Antonio River, exquisite food and impeccable service are mainstays of the Fig Tree Restaurant. Crisp linens drape tables set with fine china and sparkling crystal in elegant yet homey surroundings.Delicate, highly composed dishes such as Tournedos Rossini with Perigourdine Sauce, Seared Nori Tempura Yellow Fin Tuna and Cold Water Australian Lobster with Drawn Butter are menu stand-outs. Tableside flamed desserts include Bananas Foster over Vanilla Ice Cream and traditional Baked Alaska.Historically referred to as the Gray-Guilbeau House, the building is named for James Gray and French consul Francois Guilbeau who bought the house from Gray in 1853. The house saw many owners, including the Henshaw family, and was the last of the private dwellings in La Villita. The Phelps family purchased the home in December of 1970 as their personal residence. Visitors to the home were enthralled with its historical significance and ambiance. Prompted by this the family voted to share the house with all, and the Fig Tree Restaurant was born.Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phelps opened the Fig Tree Restaurant on March 17, 1971, and the family has continuously operated the restaurant ever since. We sincerely hope you enjoy this old home and its surroundings as much as those who have lived and dined here in the past.Around the corner from the Hilton Hotel, next to Little Rhein Steak House
