Fun place to enjoy your lunch while basking in history. Burgers were huge! Of course the local beers were good to try too!

After comparing Open Table and Trip Advisor reviews I thought I would give this place a try. The retro throwback nature of the descriptions appealed to me. I probably should not have ignored the comments about slow service. The atmosphere is, indeed, cool. Dark, high tin ceilings, old leather booths. I sort of sniffed trouble when the first person to... The interior is rustic and cozy with dimly romantic light and interesting texture on the wall and ceiling. My server and the butler weren't smiley but the server was attentive enough to check up on me a few times. Grant that I dine alone, he might suspect low tip. I ordered only 1 dish—Shrimp Toast, which was very terrible. It... More

Surprised my husband for his birthday to an evening at The Esquire. It's a true hipster- type establishment. The drinks were primo, the food was good, and the vibe was excellent. We will return for more celebrations.

We stopped in for cocktails and appetizers....then dinner! The fried pickles were the best we've had... perhaps because they make their own pickles. I started with a Moscow Mule.... they make their own ginger beer! As others reported, the Bison Burger was delicious. I was impressed by the custom cocktail menu! Try a drink called "Texas is the reason"

Pub/saloon atmosphere. Big burgers and some Tex Mex. the fried pickles were great. A little noisy for conversation.

We love this place! We stop in every time we are in San Antonio. They make the best drinks! Tons and tons of different liquors. Only had food here one time and it was pretty good. I would recommend the artichoke dip as an appetizer. We will be back.

Funky, old time tavern with some original finishing, great burgers and good service. But strangely for a tavern, a very limited wine list and they were out of the only Chardonnay on the menu

I gave it 2 because the drink was delicious - Very packed inside so we sat outside on the balcony. Our waitress brought water and promptly took our drink order. We knew it would be awhile because of the crowd. After our drinks were delivered we never saw the waitress again. We had to ask the host for our check.... More
