We have eaten here in the past when in San Antonio but several weeks ago we were in the area picked it. It was a crowded Friday night and the only space was the four seat counter facing the chef and his staff. It was wonderful then so we returned a couple of days ago. Our server Adrian remembered us... Great looking retauarant, friendly service and a great all Italian wine list. The food just isn't good enough and seems to have only a tenuous connection to real Italian food. I unhappily compared my vongole to the superb dish I had devoured in Rome only months ago, oh dear very sad. The calamari was ok but really the only thing... More

My little family and I tried to eat here last night. An older hostess with reddish hair advised the restaurant was not kid friendly. She then asked if our 2 year old son was wanting to eat. In the whole scheme of things this place will be fine without my patronage but I will never go back to this restaurant.

Our business hosted two groups of 10 here for dinner on a weeknight at 6:30 p.m. Some arrived closer to 6 due to traffic. That's when we were advised we could not get a drink and wait in the restaurant. After having cocktails at a nearby venue, we returned to our reservation for dinner. The place was overly warm and... My friends and I wanted to try Il Sogno because of several wonderful experiences at Sandbar, its sister restaurant. The restaurant itself is small and attractive, if a little eccentrically laid out (men's room upstairs, amid the food storage area, ladies' back with the wine and linens). Our problems was the waiter who never offered any of us a wine... More

We ate here on Christmas Eve (not too many dining establishments open that night) and the food was delicious, and well prepared. service was nice. Not too many Italian eateries in town but this was quite good by any standards. It looked like the pizza was excellent (we saw them deliver it to the couple seated next to us) but we... More

My wife and I found ourselves at Il Sogno by accident, upon finding "Supper" at the Hotel Emma temporarily closed for refurbishment. We couldn't have been happier to have made this discovery. An authentic Italian capable of making even the most mundane-sounding dishes utterly delicious (the grilled mixed vegetable starter being a great example) with an excellent wine list and... More

A friend told me about this little gem and it didn't disappoint. Before making reservations I did read the reviews posted here referencing stuffiness and the inability for folks arriving early to be shown to tables etc. I really didn't experience any of that type of behavior at all. My wife, daughter and I did arrive about 10 mins early... More

Il Sogno has been one of my favorite Italian restaurants in San Antonio for years. Unfortunately, this last weekend we showed up for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had reservations and showed up about 15 minutes early. We were coldly greeted by the hostess and told that we would need to wait before we could be seated because we... More

Following a highly successful French restaurant (Le Reve) and a very popular fish and seafood place (Sandbar), Chef Andrew Weissman continues to impress with this Italian edition of his international skills. The place is quite informal and is usually packed, noisy, bustling and exciting. The variety of small plates are attractive enough to make a meal, but don't neglect the... More
