I've lived in Tucson over 40 years, traveled throughout Mexico for weekends and months at a time and have eaten in dozens of Mexican restaurants, also throughout Arizona and other states. We went to El Sur partly based on the praiseworthy reviews. We were misled. This restaurant is the Casa de Agua, the House. of Water. The tasteless salsa in... More

Got the Chile Rellenos, the wife got the Carnitas. The sauce served on the Rellenos is now red where it used to be brown, but still tastes great! The wife was quite happy with the tomatillo based sauce on the carnitas she really liked the flavor. As usual a server came by with the sautéed onions & jalapenos, the flavor... More

Went at dinner time, service was quick, all 3 of us were delighted with our meal choices. Quesadillas with steak were excellent, salsa with chips was good, guacamole seemed skimpy for a $3.50 portion (but it was tasty). 32.00 for dinner for 3 with 1 margarita seemed reasonable. Everyone loved beans and rice with their dinner. Yes, we will go... More

Try one of the grilled free jalapeños tasty and hot. Enjoy the salsa and chips. Today's special $2.00 ceviche tostadas which were tasty. The beans and rice are like my wife's mother used to make and look forward too. I enjoyed the chorizo and eggs with refried beans and rice. My wife had the steak fajitas with refried beans and... This was our first trip here and our last. The noise level was way too high. The floors, walls, tables, etc. were all hard surfaces and the resultant sound felt chaotic. We went there on a Saturday afternoon around 3PM thinking it wouldn't be too crowded, but it was. The service was courteous and prompt and my cheese enchilada plate... More

Had beef fajitas and beef enchilladas. Both meals were excellent. Rest was packed and loud, but still fun. Highly recommend.

Super quiet place just off a main road. Best service and food if you like Mexican food, Third visit exceeded all first two. Subtle and soft rice and beans. Two choices of Salsa. Choice of flour or corn tortilla.... Too much to add about this special place Curbie

The service here is truly exceptional. It seems that all the servers work in concert to assure all the diner's needs are attended to on a very timely basis. I have visited the restaurant twice now and have tried the following food items: chile relleno with red sauce (excellent), carnitas with green sauce and green corn tamale (very good), shredded...
